This week's poll is from our member whatnot. After you finishing reading a series, what would you typically hope to find relating to that series? Personally, I tend to read the other works by that author. For instance, after finishing Suzuka, I read everything else by SEO Kouji.

You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related)
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: What sexist trope in manga bothers you the most?
Choices:
Patronizing "but you're a girl!" statement - votes: 581 (4.9%)
Objectification - votes: 470 (3.9%)
Falling in love with their rapist - votes: 3213 (26.8%)
"All women are..." - votes: 213 (1.8%)
Sexual assault/rape portrayed as a joke - votes: 2342 (19.6%)
Harassment is okay because she's "playing hard to get" - votes: 683 (5.7%)
Damsel in distress - votes: 799 (6.7%)
Girl solely exists to be a love interest - votes: 1324 (11.1%)
Jealous, vain, and/or cruel fangirls - votes: 819 (6.8%)
Madonna/whore dichotomy - votes: 300 (2.5%)
What? Sexism still exists? - votes: 1235 (10.3%)
There were 11979 total votes.
The poll ended: September 26th 2014

This was definitely one of the most talked about polls we've had in ages. Such a controversial topic...

I normally try to find a series with similar themes. For some reason, looking at an author's other works doesn't usually occur to me. (Maybe 'cause it's a very mixed bag.)

i got a good laugh out of "I have no hope for anything" LOL

that was a tough one! i do most of those things for series i like, except find anime -- if i've read the manga there's no point IMO in watching anime (exception would be some comedy series like Gintama and Gekkan Shoujo).

i voted for fanart, since that's usually the first thing i do. If there's a pairing i like i'll go to fanfic. And while I'm doing all that, I read other series by same mangaka. Oh and look for a fangroup. lol. XD

Yeah I usually check out what else the mangaka has done. Especially if I liked the art. If there's a separate artist, I usually check out what other stuff they've done too.

I usually check for other series of the same author first. Depending on the series I might also check for anime.

Same here, I look for stuff that's similar. Normally when I get into something, there is something about the Manga/Novel that catch my eyes, so once I finish I tend to search for stuff with a similar theme until I get enough of it, or until I get hook up on something new.

I'm really disappointed that there wasn't an option for 'Being violent is okay because you're a girl' option. That's such a common trope where the dude gets whaled on because he's in the wrong situation, even when it clearly isn't his fault. I agree that these other options are also sexist but I would have expected this to be more fair instead of being all about the female side.

I usually search for something from the same author or another manga with the same themes. I occasionally do the other options, other than watch the anime. I don't like anime much, and it tends to ruin series that I've already read.

Something awesome by the same author typically. Fan art is good too 😀

Chances that spin offs/ sequels are both good and translated are kinda rare.

I was torn between Anime, Sequel or spin-off and merch. But I chose anime because having an anime makes having merchandise of a series more prevalent! So win win for me.

H-doujin! I guess that would fall under fanfic, but I don't wait until the end of the series 😀

I do look for other works by the author - which can include sequels and spin-offs.

Looks like my choice isn't even on the list. What I hope for most after finishing a good series is to find other series similar to it. I try to find series that have a similar plot, setting, etc. to it. That is usually a fruitless search, so the next best thing would be works by the same author, which might turn out to be similarly interesting. Sometimes, along with that, I check to see if there is a sequel or spin-off.

I want/look forward to Another New/Ongoing series by the same author...

why not Sequel or spin-off ?
Cause, it would be annoying on most(95%) cases...some good example would be " Naruto " or " Bleach "...as these ones are gonna end soon enough...
though Having some Spin-off would be fun...Like With Beelzebub's Spin-off Beelzebub Bangai Hen...^^

had a hard time between another series by the same author and fan art, because if i really really like a series the first thing i do is either get fanpics for my desktop backround file or look at the author to see if there are any other awesome series there.
i ended up picking another series by the same author because my favorite thing to look for is art and if an artist has one series with pretty art, they are very likely to have other series with pretty art 😀

Fan Fiction,

It lets us screw around with the characters (sometimes literally) without having to worry about continuity. Sequels and spin-offs would be great too, but it will eventually get to the point where the series will start becoming stale or it goes in a direction that isn't to my liking.
