It minds well be the Seinen parallel of Hana Yori Dango

I say this because both this and Hana Your Dango are criticized heavily but are both good at developing atmosphere and tugging on your emotions and are also dramatic.

Suzuka undoubtedly might get on your nerves but the truth is some girls are like this, cold and judgemental, misunderstanding a guy's true intentions .But you'll come to find that the main character has a big heart. He endures whatever issues life tosses at him. He learns to slowly honest with himself despite how Suzuka may be.
There is no bullying but rivalry.

I also have read this two times.

Reason for my poor rating:

Suzuka herself is a self-absorbed woman who pines for a dead lover. It took the anime 23 out of 24 episodes before she finally accepted the mc. They call it a romance anime/manga, but it's mostly just Suzuka being a douchenozzle because the mc doesn't live up to her dead lover's legacy. Thus, this is in my bottom 3 anime that I have ever watched out of over 350 anime.

While it started with a good plot and interesting characters, it develops in a lame way that doesn't has any sense at all, the situations that the characters go through are too forced and most of the times ends up in a bad way, also the characters not being honest with themselves is something that nobody can't stand, besides the main characters is too stupid, to the point that it' doesn't even have sense how stupid he is, not knowing about anything, unsure, unsafe, the worst in my opinion, also his choices were always bad being selfish and only caring about himself.
Anyways, there are some good characters but no the main characters.. it would have been a story with a good developing, with an actual character with a dream, meta, etc, and to finish this, it's one of the worst endings I've ever seen, the reason the characters don't reach their dreams makes the ending so stupid and bad, maybe it seemed that they did their best to have a good life but it was just a bad plot, too normal. I'm sure everyone like complex situations and this didn't have one. Worst main character ever to the point of ruining Suzuka's career.. what was the author thinking..

Not a simple plot, tells the difficulty of a boy to become good at sports for one love and to overcome the difficulties that arise.

I have to agree with Rhadaze: Suzuka + Strawberry 100% = Would be the Master Piece

The End

After finishing the manga, the ending was good. The manga will draw you in and force you to read it from start to finish but I want to add some warnings for those reading this series for the first time... do start reading for anything else other than romance and the drama that goes with it. The manga will lead you to follow Yamato and his track success but do not get your hopes up
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
as he is forced to quit
. Read this for the intentions of romance and drama and you will be happy with it.

i think it's a feminist style of manga and also the romance was kind of lacking some senses that you might think "it is really that what she/he feels?"... the idea of the main female was some kind of a bipolar or something that can't defy her character and the situation.. also i can't really stand the ideas of a main male who was a typical idiot/stupid that always blaming himself, getting the wrong impressions by simply putting wrong acts and ends it with a good conclusion even though it is not thoroughly and clearly explained... But it is overall that it came close to what we see in the real world though for me it is kind of exaggerating the "factors of love"....

I had a question (if you kinda re-direct the story);

What if Suzuka didn't get pregnant, will the story goes on with some marrying stuff, (yamato being a good father, getting a fine job to support the family, etc.) or something that will complicate again the relationship of the two and ending again with break up? How would you end the story?

because in my opinion the idea of "love" in this manga is just so sudden to the point that; when she suddenly breaks up and then restarting the relationship and founding out that she is pregnant and the male becomes so frustrated acting being so responsible and ending up marrying her without thinking because he thought that this is only the way and the typical ending it is HAPPY (although when it comes to romance genre i like nice and a happy one)... well this is only my opinion because i didn't get the idea of being interested with some flashy plots... Considering the fact that most romances suck, this one gets a couple of points as I read all of it.

I'd been searching for a good shounen romance for a long time and the premise of this series caught my eye for years but I'd been told it was a kind of raeg manga. I didn't really find that to be the case, though.
'Haru Yo, Koi!' (though that's seinen) was better with the whole multiple girls coming and going thing (though in this, Suzuka is there almost the whole time).
The epilogue seemed to randomly shove in that

he's an olympic candidate
for a happy ending but it hardly seems believable.

I Really didn't like the main character personality from the first chapter, and don't like tomboy girl like the female lead.
But I considered the good rating of this manga on this site and decided to give it a shut.
I'm in the middle of the 4th chapter and it just keep getting annoying!!! V.ANNOYING!! Actions that doesn't make sense!!
Like in the 4th chapter when the tanned girl take a needle and inject it into the guys NECK just because of a little cold!! I MEAN COME ON!!!!

Stupid manga .. I wouldn't recommend it

18 volumes of people being idiotic

Wanna read manga with protagonist so illogically inept you constantly wonder how he manages to breath each day?

Wanna read manga revolving around a romance between people who a genuinely terrible to each other?

Wanna read a manga about people making irrational decisions that can only be explained as the person making them must have some kind of mental disorder?

Wanna read a manga that insults your intelligence at every turn and assumes you have no concept of how humans behave?

Wanna watch two people destroy each other lives over some ridiculously and easily avoidable selfish decision?

Then this is the manga for you!

SUZUKA + ICHIGO 100 = Would be THE Master Piece.
by Rhadaze
October 18th, 2012, 12:07pm
Rating: 9.0 / 10.0
To begin with. I think Honoka Sakurai is a MUCH better example of what a shy girl should be compared to Toujo Aya. (((( SPOILER FOR ICHIGO 100))))
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The fact the Aya NEVER did anything to have a happy ending with Manaka was for me, the one reason she did not deserve to have it

Sakurai, even as a shy person, fights for herself and her love, very interesting character.

Manaka was gay.... Akitsuki is kinda dumb and inexperienced, but certainly has some attitude. Thus, manaka should be more like Akitsuki in many ways.

Boths mangas had what the other lacked. For instance, in Ichigo 100, the characters would sometimes avoid taking obvious decisions for no reason other than the author wanting to restrain the development of the story. In this one, things would happen. The character wanna kiss, they kiss, they wanna start going out, they do, wanna break up, break up. I mean, they actually acted upon the situation like any of us would and then suffer the consequences, which made sense and gave a feeling of realism to the manga, and because of that, it developed in ways Ichigo 100 failed at.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
the end shows that clearly with the sex and pregnancy experience

I wouldnt say this is a love polygon.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
There are different romance plots going on, as it tells the life of a student, but there isnt much of a competition. The story pretty much has a main romance which it focuses upon.

it felt draggy at times. Sometimes it felt there were too many chapters for too little experience. Ichigo 100 felt like a much longer story even though they had pretty much the same ammount of chapters. The one part this manga excelled at this was at the end hough. I felt the latest chapters brought a LOT of content and meaning to the story. On that matter, ichigo 100 had much more of a Roller Coaster effect than this one. This was much more linear.

Also, something I dont usually see. Others mangas (ichigo 100 por example) only show the drama. Once the issue at hand is solved, it ends leaving the rest to your imagination. In this one, the story extended long enough to give the reader a sense of closure, it gives us a nice prologue and I think thats AWESOME! It sucks when you spend 170 chapters readring waiting to see how happy the couple you are cheering for a gonna end up, and then as soon as they get together the story ends.
