New Poll - Self-Control

I'm definitely one of the "Just one more chapter... or 50" readers.. If I'm really into the manga, it's really difficult to get me to stop. I lost count on the number of nights/mornings I spent reading instead of sleeping even though I had to wake up very earlier the next day. lol Of course there has been times that for one reason or another I just had to stop.. in those cases I'll stop at the end of the chapter. Stopping mid-chapter is impossible for me. 😀
I stop when I can no longer keep my eyes open, when I start drifting off in my chair and people at home start shouting at me "Go to bed already, you haven't slept for two days!" OR when I'm 10 minutes late to go somewhere or do something really important. 🤣 Guess only the top option is suitable for me.

If you celebrate the holiday, I wish you a Happy Valentine's Day~
Edit:
It depends on the series so ranging from one new chapter to the end of a series available, I picked "Just one more chapter...or 50".

If its work, then I have to stop. Can't read manga if i have no job, online or otherwise. Anything else, though, I can live without :3. The usual sacrifice is sleep, but I've already come to the conclusion that I won't be able to sleep either way if I'm too interested in a series. In this case, I may as well continue reading 'till I'm satisfied and get a solid few hours sleep versus the standard 8 hours of lying in bed thinking about the manga.
I guess that a lot of us dream of a stable marriage or the choices were crap.
Let me finish this chapter as my reading list won´t become a mess like this is my motto.
I can game/read/watch for 10 hours+ with only food breaks and so on but i always go for a logical ending point and i know in advance when i will stop.
I wonder why i have glasses 🙄 . I drop things that waste my time immediately nowadays so "when it starts getting boring" is the furthest from my mind.
I also read EU/US comics and am a librarian.

To be honest mangaupdates could use a bit of "self-control" and stop having a knee-jerk-takedown reaction.

I have tried to help you back in December and Nov 2013 and explain that you have more rights to intellectual property than you realize. Rights to link what you want even to material not hosted by you that violates copyright. Section 230 deals especially with that topic. I tried to make you aware that people filing DMCA claims were in the legal wrong and are even more in the legal wrong as Section 230 has changed.

However, I cannot help people who are not willing to help themselves. Mangaupdates has to be willing to exhibit some "self-control" and defend yourself. If you look at the links below, you need to learn to be willing to defend yourself now more than ever.
As anyone who has ever had a meme go viral knows, it is very easy to distribute content on a commercial scale online, even without it being a money-making operation. That means ** fans who distribute subtitles** to foreign movies or anime, or archivists and librarians who preserve and upload old books, videos, games, or music, could go to jail or face huge fines for their work. Someone who makes a remix film and puts it online could be under threat. Such a broad definition is ripe for abuse, and we've seen such abuse happen many times before.

I read chapter by chapter. I don't really need to stop reading at any point in the middle. If I were in a hurry to do something, I wouldn't even start doing anything that I would need to stop midway.

I am definitely "Just one more chapter...or maybe 50." I can never concentrate on my work, so I just start reading, thinking, "Oh just a few chapters and then I'll continue." But I always end up reading a lot more than a few chapters, and when I think of stopping, I can't until I realize that I am gonna lose sleep finishing my work 🤣 that false sense of security gets me every time 😔

This really depends on the manga and what other shit I have to do. I like to escape into a manga to avoid my duties as a student =d

Okay, "when it starts getting boring" is totally irrelevant and shouldn't be an option here because the question isn't, "When do you drop a manga?" The question is, "When do you stop reading?", i.e. before going to bed, etc. Unless, of course, the intended meaning was actually, "when the action reaches a lull," or, "when the story slows down," or something similar. Anyway, I chose "just one more chapter" because I can keep myself up to ungodly hours of the evening... err, morning... reading a good manga. 😁

When it starts getting boring is a valid option. I rarely drop a manga, and I tend to have terrible self control ... I always have other things I SHOULD do (like laundry or the dishes ... cleaning in general. Or sleep, lol) but I don't because I always have that "Just one more chapter" in me.
However, there's times when I just get bored of it and able to stop to do whatever I need to do, then come back and finish reading it. Of course when I get back to reading it I would have to force myself to get past this boring section.
My answer is .... all except the "strong self control" option. 😀
I picked "Just one more chapter ... or 50."

It depends on the manga, whether I'm reading one-shots, or the latest (few) chapters of a series or starting a new manga that has less than 50 chapters(counting them at ~30pgs each) out or a long one 100-200 chapters or a super long one over 300/ongoing.
I'd say definitely finish the chapter or a few chapters so "Just 1 more or 50".
And if I really need to stop or not.

Somewhere between when I finish the series and just one more chapter... It really depends on the fact what I'm reading is it already finished or not? If I have the complete series or a few volumes it can go from just one chapter to just this volume and then before I know it it 4 hours later.
Well I can have some restraint and all nighters reading manga do not happen that often, the manga has to be real good for me to make an all nighter. Basicly if I do not have to work the day after that I read somewhat more than planned with manga, light novels or books.
