Hey, the thread is called "Random Questions", right?? 🤣

It's just something I've wondered about on my daily bus ride, so thought I'd ask & see what other people have to say.

I've been riding the city bus for a while now, & it seems there are two different ways of getting off the bus:

  1. Stay in the seat until the bus is completely stopped & the doors are open, then stand up, walk to the front, & get off the bus

  2. As the bus is slowing for the stop, stand up & walk to the front, so that you can get off the bus as soon as it's completely stopped & the doors are open

There don't seem to be any Official Rules for this, as far as I can tell - #1 seems a little safer, but #2 is a LOT more efficient.

Is either one the "right" way?? 🤣

I wouldn't necessarily call option #1 safer, since busses usually don't have seatbelts. If the bus crashes and you are standing you will first slide over the floor thus losing force and giving you time to prepare before impacting with something or someone. If however you are seated you will impact with the seat in front of you at full force almost immeadiately.
Option #2 is the right way, clearly.

@TofuQueen <3

I take public transportation more than 3 times a week, and I'm usually the option #2 person. My reasoning for that is that.. sometimes the bus drivers can be a bit in a rush, and if you're not up and out by a few seconds, they close the door on you and hurry on to the next stop. Especially when the bus is extremely crowded, and you try to follow option #1... not a good idea XD. (Hey, well it depends on the bus driver and their patience!)

So, It just depends on your situation but I really like option #2 better. I do it all the time!

Ya, I go for number 2 too. It is more efficient. O_O I rarely take the bus, but I've noticed that a lot of people wait for the bus to fully stop and then get off. Here, that wouldn't be the smart thing to do, lol. Buses here are ALWAYS crowded, so you can easily miss your stop that way. The buses I take make a stop every 7 blocks~ And since I often take a seat on the second floor, I usually way until the bus stops at a traffic light (before my stop, of course) before standing up, that way I won't fall or slam my head against a pole (has happened before)..._

Yeah, I'm an "option 2" person, just seems to go more smoothly that way.

Of course, I'm riding a dinky little bus with maybe 25 seats & the drivers are all friendly & helpful, but things still seem to go more smoothly if the departing riders are there at the door when the bus stops. I find myself getting irritated at the people who stay seated until the bus stops, but then started debating with myself whether their way was actually better....the things I do to stay awake on the bus... 🤣

I came to bug you with another extension question...
So I downloaded this file of the "stk" kind.
It's supposed to be a manga chapter.
I have no idea how to open it...

I tried google, but it seems there're all kinds of uses to this stk.
Like music and stick figures or whatever. =/
I need help with finding the right thing to open it with.

Thanks for your help.

Bus question - usually option 2.

@Swan
What I'd do first is try to rename the extension to .zip and see if it opens 😛
It's a silly method, but it never hurts to try...especially if google is returning with bad results >_>

When the bus is filled, number 2 is better, reaching the doors can become difficult.

Well there's not really a 'wrong' way to get off a bus, if you wanted to you could smash a window and jump out? but then you'd have to pay the price, but in my experience of public transportation I guess I'd have to go with option #2.

But then again why not just catch a taxi? sure it costs more but its more spacious! and your basically always at the front.

Trust me.. everybody's doing it.

As if I've ever cared what "everybody's doing"~ 🤣

The bus is free, goes right past my house & very close to where I work, the drivers are nice, and it's a short ride. If I miss the bus I'll walk or drive if I'm short on time, but taxi? No.
