It's called a broiler...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grilling#Overhead_grilling.2FOven_grilling.2FBroiling

my family mostly uses it for garlic bread (made from a large french bread loaf)... cheese bread... and I guess some meats...

Because the burners are right about the food in the broiler, which cooks the food directly, while in the oven food cooks indirectly by having the burner heat the air which in turn cooks the food.

So, the taste and texture is slightly different depending on which you use... because the broiler normally gives food a slightly more crispy texture verses the oven.

Think of it like a Crème Brûlée, when you apply a flame to the sugar it gets a shell of crunchy caramel which would be impossible with out the direct flame...

Pinned threads on forums are those which stay on the top (as in first page) when you're browsing through a forum. They're usually rules, FAQs, instructions, etc.

---the question I put here wasn't even the question I needed an answer to, so I removed it before anyone bothered to figure out---

So here's a random new question, why is an orange (fruit) orange in color?

I got the answer in the mean time. It had to do with proving congruency using the properties of right triangles, and then using the properties of equilateral triangles to fine the angle, which is 60.

So here's a random new question, why is an orange (fruit) orange in color?

Cool, according to wiki, the color name came from the fruit name. The color is due to the biochemistry of the fruit. journal article on synthesizing orange coloring in pepper fruit.

Thank you, for both. 🙂 It feels good to know the answer just for the sake of knowing it.

A question:
My external hard drive was always under same letter any time I plug it in and now it changed. How can I change it back?

I only tried it in XP for USB sticks, so...right click on my computer -> manage, go to disk management, right click on the drive and select change drive letters. After that simply pick out the letter you want to use.

Hope it helps.

sleeping question..

I just woke-up from something that I assume was a sleep. (I'm at a friend's place, and the couch is awfully cold and uncomfortable.)

Anyways, I was just wondering if it's possible to feel refreshed and rested if you just close your eyes for a few hours.

I only had an hour and a half of sleep, but I cannot go back to sleep nor do I feel sleepy. ____ It's such a horrible feeling bleh x__x

Has anyone ever tried just closing your eyes? Does it give you the same effect as "sleeping" or must you get into a deep sleep in order to get your required amounts?

Well, if you just close your eyes, you're still technically awake, and you have to be asleep to well.. sleep. Yes, my stupid question is due to my lack of hours 😛

Yes, it happens...to me anyways, It's how I get myself feeling refreshed if I ever have the need to be up early.

Say if I need to be up at six, I wake myself up at 5, where I'm grumpy from lack of sleep, then go back to sleep for 30min. After which I feel like a million bucks at waking up.

I have "cat naps", which I guess is similar. If I'm really tired, I sleep for about hour and a half, maybe two, and I feel fine when I wake up, really refreshed. If anything, I feel more awake than what I do in the mornings 🤣

That is also why I set my alarm an hour before I need to get out of bed, because I'm the sort of person that sleeps a bit after I wake up. I can't get out of bed straight away. Mind you, I still can't get out of bed even after the quick sleep. I'm such a lazy ass 🤣 But I feel less tired than what I did when I first woke up.
