well only if it's good and not edited up the ass << cough tenjou tenge cough initiald cough >> and it's not out on the net for free 😛 well i'd still pay for it if it was truly great and i loved it that much
why back in the day we didn't 'download', we had to swim to japan if we wanted fresh anime and that was only if...
I dream of a better tomorrow... where chickens can cross roads and not have their motives questioned.

I started collecting manga about 6 months ago. I have around 40 books, which is a great feat if you consider I have to order them all from out of the country. Most of my manga is 'american' but I have some french books as well. ^___^
Still, I rely heavily on scanlations. 😀

I used...
Dreamland Comics is probably the best but their shipping takes awhile and if the item is in backorder... it'll take awhile to get it. Also eBay is good. If you buy in bulk, it could come to $5-$6 per book.

I buy the mangas that I think are really good. Model, X, Tokyo Babylon, along those lines... I've just started the collection, so it's not much right now...

Pffft, don't talk about money to me! I'm so broke I haven't even needed my wallet for about a good year now (incidentally also the last time I bought a manga). I'm collecting the ones I like, but it's a slow, slow process.
Very slow.
Like nonexistent slow.

I use downloads for manga I can't readily get. I tend to buy my favorite titles if they have been released in the USA, simply because I'm half-blind and holding a book up to my nose is easier than staring at a computer screen. But some of the older titles I read are now out of print and impossible to find. My English manga collection is somewhere in the 150-200 range. My Japanese manga collection was over 100 books before I sold a good bunch of them. I can't take them with me to Japan, so I'll just buy them again, but cheaper. 😀
So yeah, I support the companies that put out English books. If I don't, they won't translate anymore. And even though I can translate myself (with time and a lot of effort), I much prefer reading the English version of things. I don't have to think so hard and I can just enjoy the manga.
By the way, Dreamland Comics is good, but you have to watch out for them too. For my last two orders it's taken over a month to get the books to me, and I still haven't received a book from my order, five months after I placed it. Their prices are great, but just watch out for that.

I have my monthly spending spree where i go to this comic store and buy at least 10 titles. Sometimes the books are around 1/4 of the price so i just completely buy them all
so right about now i think i have around 700-800 volumes atm
