Well, there have been suspicions about that happening. Since he really doesn't have any use anymore. 😛 Naruto surpassed him, and the newer generation will surpass the older generation and such.
But meh, we don't know for sure. Just suspicions.

I hope so too dammit! Please don't kick the bucket Kakashi!
But I just can't shake the feeling that Madara is actually in Tobi's body and that he will confront Kakashi to steal his eye. If Kakashi ever loses that sharingan ... then he will lose all the reason he has left for being kept alive.
Plus he just keeps getting injured again and again after every fight. Sort of fragile? Doesn't that foreshadow something? Same thing with Tsunade's aging after the Oro fight...
