I like both but I would prefer third persons because you can do so much more with it. Things like a cover system (Gears of War) and hand-to-hand combat (MGS) look much better in third person. While it may also be possible (and more interesting) to do the same to first-person shooters, no one pursues it so the gameplay gets linear in my opinion...

FPS makes me dizzy...I'm not playing the necessary hours it'll take for my brain/body to adjust to the view point while feeling like crap for a game.

Third Person are way more interesting to look at and play, I could care less about such "realism" in games like these.

I like both, but I'm getting more into third person shooters lately. The best kind though are ones that offer both, like Fallout 3 and Unreal Tournament 3/Unreal Championship 2004.

I get frustrated by the more limited view in FPS, so I prefer third person.

first person is easier to aim in and is easier to fight without cover in but third person lets you observe your surroundings without having to turn your character around and you can fight behind cover more easily. i like them both equally. 😀

Doesnt matter really. Intense shooter I like to be first person, but those casual shooters and stealth shooting i would like to be third person.

Surprised there are so many votes for third person. FPS all the way. Modern Warfare, Doom, Far Cry, Halo, Goldeneye, etc. How can any tps beat that? Gears of War is great and all but nothing can get you hooked like a great fps. 😎

TPS for me. Never been a fan of FPS. Games like MGS4 (I don't know if I consider this a TPS, but it has TPS qualities), Uncharted 2, Resident Evil 5, and Red Dead Redemption (again, TPS qualities) are much more enjoyable for me than repetitive FPS. TPS tends to offer more versatility, and they tend to focus a lot more on other aspects of games (such as story) than FPS. FPS seem to focus primarily on online multi-player. While it can be addicting, I want my games to be more than just an online multi-player.

I feel it completely depends on the game. I don't have a preference as long as it works with the game concept/design. Most TPS games wouldn't work as well using FPS and vice versa and I like games that use either of the systems. Gears, CoD, MGS, Unreal Tournament 3, Team Fortress 2...issaaaalllgood!

I go with either. But yea it depends on the game and console. For example, I'm good at Halo but stink at CS for fps

Your very quote shows me how third person shooters can beat those. I didn't think any of those were particularly memorable (except Goldeneye), nor did any (except Goldeneye) really get me hooked. It's very subjective.

I prefer the context sensitive actions and superior stealth and cover options third person shooters give, so I'd go tps instead.
