Try
-Spice and Wolf
-Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora
-ToraDora
-Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu
-True Tears

Obviously there's quite a lot of this. I could give more recommendations (those are just ones I enjoy more), but without knowing whether you want a harem, a more mature romance, or whatever, I can't really give ideal recommendations.

Note that light novels and visual novels are too very different mediums. Visual novels will get you almost exclusively harems (with a couple exceptions like ef), whereas light novels are much more varied, and typically, though not always, more detailed.

Reviews of my Work:
You are kind of boring - Blackorion

NightSwan also said that she wanted to peg me, once, but I'm not sure whether to take that as a compliment or a threat...

Ah. In that case it was Shuffle throwing me off >_>.

Then maybe not ToraDora (and possibly not Haruhi since it's light on the romance), but the earlier suggestions should still be fine.

Also try:
-Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu
-Maria-sama ga Miteru (if you don't mind slow paced shoujo-ai)
-NHK ni Youkoso (for a lot more comedy, less romance)

I don't think all that highly of the key based ones, but you'd probably like Air, Kanon, and Clannad if you haven't already seen them.

I liked the anime Fate/Stay Night, based on a visual novel. It's got a harem element to it, but for the most part is a serious action series (with romance of course).

I'll also recommend School Days, also based on a visual novel. It's definitely a harem, but one not portrayed ideally. You'll hate just about every character, but it's still worth watching.

Another one that may interest is, Strawberry Panic, an anime based on a light novel series (that also happens to have a visual novel). It's not harem and mostly just simple romance. It's pure yuri though.

Only one episode has aired thus far, but Chaos;Head shows promise and is based on a visual novel.

Hakushaku to Yousei.
Ghost Hunt.

My favourites so far along side Kaze no Stigma.

I personally like Kurenai, but no one is translating the novel 🙁 also, it has some hints of lolicon...though it's mostly onesided.

Zero no Tsukaima and Shakugan no Shana are both being translated by Baka-Tsuki, and have a similar feel to them. Though ZnT is a bit more comedic (and it's a harem) and SnS is a bit more dramatic. Coincidentally, Louise and Shana are both voiced by Kugimiya Rie.

Calling You is also a good one, though I don't think it's an anime. I'm pretty sure there's a manga of it though.

Gosick is a very good mystery story (yes, there's still romance), but again, I don't think there's an anime, and only volume 1 had been translated by Tokyopop.

Missing is an excellent novel with supernatural and mystery (minor romance), but again no anime 🤢 but there is a 3 volume manga based on volume 1.

Socrates in Love is one of the most popular novels in Japan. In fact, it has held the record for most copies sold since '04 I think. It is one of the most touching romances I have ever read, though it is a tragedy...made me cry more than any other book...then again, I cry easily lol again NO anime (i suck at this) but again these is a manga. though it isn't as good.

I second Maria-sama ga Miteru and Strawberry Panic! though they are both yuri, the former mostly subtext (main theme would be friendship I think), while the latter is entirely romance. Marimite has an anime, though the novel is better in my opinion, and the Strawberry Panic! novels have been translated and released in english, though I haven't read them.

Kamisama Kazoku is a cute little anime, though nobody's translated the novels.

I never watched/read it myself, but I've been told Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan is rather good. If senselessly violent and silly.

for some based on VN, I liked Air though the anime was a bit short. Fate/Stay Night is rather good, though it's also a fantasy thing.
My buddy highly recommends Da Capo as it is his all-time favorite anime. Ugh, as of right now, I'm kinda braindead on VN based anime. Hope I helped a bit.
