The Japanese publisher Kodansha has confirmed on its website that CLAMP will run the final chapter of the xxxHOLiC: Rō manga in the March issue of Bessatsu Shonen Magazine on February 9. The 19th book volume of xxxHOLiC will ship with an original animation DVD in Japan in March.

Del Rey published the 16th volume in North America last October. Del Rey Manga Associate Publisher Dallas Middaugh confirmed in December that his company will continue publishing xxxHOLiC for the foreseeable future.

And so...it's finally over. Can't say I liked the ending (were they forced to cut it short after all these years?), but it wasn't terrible either - it could've been worse. The thing with the egg was never explained, though. What a let-down!

^I thought it would make him forget Yuuko, hence Domeki's last words.
And on that note. WHAT DOMEKI. So 100 years passed and the Domeki he was chatting with last few chapters wasn't our Domeki but his descendant? oh man what. Hope there's an epilogue like there was for Tsubasa.

Oh, yeah...so that's what the egg was about! Considering the fuss both Yuuko and Shizuka made though, I get the feeling CLAMP originally planned to make it something much more, but were probably not allowed enough chapters to carry it through.

As for Shizuka...I wonder who he married? Maybe it was Kohane? o_o

Last chapter was beautiful as usual. However, for an ending, I AM DISAPPOINT. >[

Not bad, huge points for the appropriate literary reference. "The first night" from yume juya is a very good parallel.

I suspect CLAMP just tired of the story. They lost control of it a while ago and have been trying to end it for years.

NightSwan also said that she wanted to peg me, once, but I'm not sure whether to take that as a compliment or a threat...

Very disappointing ending. Hopefully now they'll get back to Clover or Gohou Drug.
I hold no hope for X anymore. It's been more than a decade since the 90s ended... it's just way too late now 🙁

Oh, the ending! I'm a bit disappointed with how things went for several reasons. One of them involving Shizuka, but I'm not going to spoil it.

Had it gone on for a few more chapters though, I think they would've been able to properly wrap things up. 🙁

Well, since xxxHoLic is done, I hope they plan on finishing their other works...coughLegal Drug!cough

Actually, I don't hold out on much hope for Gohou Drug, X/1999 or Clover.
CLAMP will probably just focus their attentions on that new shounen / fantasy / romance manga; Gate 7. Sigh And I don't even like that one...

A very open ending sigh
Not much explanation in the last chapter, though it's draw beautifully.

And yes, where's mokona?

An ending that is not happy does not equal an inadequate ending. It fits in with the empty, unsatisfactory feeling of the rest of the series. The Kohane and the Himawari arcs were the only ones that ended on a high note, excluding nonsensical fillers of course, and even they are far, far from happy.

The last chapter actually explains and foreshadows a lot. I think CLAMP's intentions were pretty clear: Watanuki hasn't and will not forget about Yuuko for a long time, and will continue to wait for her. but he will eventually forget when a Doumeki decides to use the egg

I think the ending was just Clamp-like. Not that I'm satisfied. 🙂 But it's just how Clamp is, right? 😛
I think I was angrier when TRC ended, because they never mentioned the vampire twins until the very end! 🙁 But that's a different matter... 🙂

I agree with Blackmokona about it not being a bad ending. The empty feeling really matched with how Watanuki must be feeling. I mean, I know I would feel pretty empty and open ended if I was in his shoes. This ending was really well placed
