funny. you can dulled the blade easily if you don't know how to use it. hell! even if you know, you will still dulled it after 3 or 4 slashes, unless you are a master.

Personally, guns, mostly because I prefer the plots that come along with them
But the way japanese mangaka portray fighting with guns and fighting with swords pretty much puts them on the same level
The characters tend to be super skilled with whatever weapon they have. They don't die no matter how many times they're shot/sliced at. Sort of like Angelina Jolie in Salt (ANYONE if they were her character would have died halfway through that movie) Even in sword-fighting manga, people with guns get killed anyways by the MC/whomever else.

Guns kinda suck and it's not really that much skill goinging into it sure thairs snipers and sharpshooters.(please dont quote me i only shot nonmoveing targets before. and i suck and first person shooters)
But the choice of shooting a hole in someones body or claveing someones head clean off. I would pick the sword and slice off your head with the essence of grace, beauty, and absolute terror.
cool things with guns like the black cat series sorta thing. also thairs something about certin ppl with guns will be found more attractive. 😮
But it's cooler when you can take on a bunch of guys with guns and bazookas with a sword and defeat them as if they were nothing.

I would have to go with swords. I don't know much about them, so I can't pick out any problems with technique. And, I don't care about western or Japanese or Chinese or whatever type of sword. They are all pretty entertaining.

I know a fair amount about guns, so I'm always bothered by the mangaka's lack of knowledge when it comes to a certain guns problems or capacity, etc.

I love gunswords.

Which would I use? Probably short swords...guns need bullets, heh.

In manga or anime? Probably guns. There are sooo many guns out there, and Mami's and Homerun's gun overload is awesome. But I still like seeing some nice enchanted sword work.

I'd say I like them equally. There're fewer gunfights that actually caught my attention. If they did, I actually liked it a lot. The Gunkata in in Grenadier was interesting. If it had more thought put into it, i'm sure I would've been hooked on the anime, if not for much cliched events.

Although sword fights are common, there's some great ones, and it's actually rather consistent, as compared to gunfights.

man that is hard to choose. I like swords but guns are better than swords LOL
