He would have to not act like a coward for the first 100 points then in order to be respected and be able to have pride in his accomplishments. Anyone that's a pure coward would just want out as fast as possible, even if their real life isn't much better. The dependency on the game part might be correct, but not because he's a coward, more a person like the early Kei who has nothing else going for him in his life and is viewed as a hero.

Oh, maybe Oka had heard of Kei at some other point in time and purposely killed the 100 to bring Kei back, cuz he saw Kei's potential and wants him in a sort of Griffith + Guts relationship. Just an idea...

Judging from the latest chapter, it seems he's pretty strong. He knows karate and... ping pong! =O That makes him automatically badass. ;P But it was badass how he pawned the alien. I don't think that's the end of him though.
