azureus, heard about it, tried it, loved it.
I second that.
EDIT:

Is is extremely lightweight, it uses only 7000K memory instead of 50.000K that a clean install of Azureus uses.
lol that is a funny argument. if you use torrent to download files with sizes of tens of GB, i don't think the 43 MB still matter... But perhaps it improves the startup, i dunno.

Torrent dowloads have 2 major advantages over http-downloads (in my opinion):
(1)(Fairly) fast dowloads of large files (small files can go fast too offcourse, but thats also the case with http dowloads, and small files tend go become 'unpopular' faster than larger files as torrents
(2) The transfers can be interupted; file progress is always saved offcourse, wich is not (always) the case with http-downloads (and large files = longer downloading time = anoying as uninteruptable http-download)
Just te prove to the non-believers that torrent-downloads can go fast I have** 2 screenshots **available via these links:
655kb/sec
919kb/sec
Ok, now I also have another 2 dazzling screenshots of inhuman speeds. I don't know how they even were possible but the strange thing is that apparently it is.
After I started these 2 downloads, I remember that I closed down a few sites that were open, I placed some file in the right directory and then I decided to check my bitcomet again to see it the download was already well on it's way. Appearantly I had already finished and since both files actually played I just had to believe that speed registration was correct. But still... **am I a n00b in these things or are those speeds just waaay of the schale 😕 **
First up is the one with the fastest speed (gotta check it out yourself to see how fast that is; not gonna spoil it yet 😀 ).
UNREAL
Second and last one happened simultaniously with the first one, or either right after with a very small timeinterval. Again a dazzling record for me even though it's not as fast as the first one above.
GODLIKE

Since you already need - to vote for / mention - your favorite torrent program, why don't we all share our favorite torrent (search) site.
I always search via http://www.torrentz.com. Although for certain anime I used to check http://a.scarywater.net as well.

Unfortunately not everyone uses high spec computers for downloading. I use a computer i have had for 7+ years, so if it uses less memory, it's more efficient.

µTorrent or Azureus. Most of the replies on this thread are proof.
And Zacharias, torrentz.com is the best torrent search site.

I'm so glad you agree 😀
Although it is possible that someone else might *favor * another site (perhaps for community purposes?!).
Because of the overwhelming support that µTorrent is receiving here I'm gonna check it out and compare it with my bitcomet.
I'm not gonna check out Azureus because I think I've already used it once and since I'm not going to waste to much time by testing 2 programs, I'm going to go for the 'unexplored' µTorrent.
Maybe I'll post a small, personal report later on! 🤨

I voted Bitcomet, because that's what I usually use, but I also like µTorrent and Azureus. Depends on where you're trying to leech from. But personally, I'd much rather use IRC since torrents can take soooooo long, and IRC is instant when you can get a good XDCC bot.

Yea, if you get a good bot, it's the same with the torrents and the seeders 😉 but I guess the ratio of "good bot : bad bot" on IRC is better then the ratio "good seeders : bad seeders" for torrents.

Another uTorrent user. I was recommended it by a sibling and he used Azureus before and then switched over. I've been using it even since I got a new computer and have more room for big files (20 MBs would have been really nothing when trying to have big anime series that go past 50 episodes (which is about 10 MBs, I think?) on the same machine that I keep other files on the computer).

Azureus for me. Whatever you choose, don't use the original Bittorrent.

I thought that I should point out that the downloads cannot exceed the max download speed provided by your ip. So for me I top around 180 kb/sec.

Yeah, I get 625KB down on my modem but the max I have ever got on a torrent is about 300KB.
