I know ya'll would be so excited that I didn't leave any negative choices 🙂 Don't bother thanking me <3
Someone go blow up Kubo's twitter, see if this is true
**Warner Bros. prepping film adaptation of 'Bleach' manga **
Warner Bros., already developing an adaptation of the manga "Akira," is in the process of securing the movie rights to "Bleach."
Peter Segal is in negotiations to produce, though not direct, the adaptation with Viz Media, the anime publishing house that releases the books in English in the U.S. Michael Ewing, Segal's partner at Callahan Filmworks, will also produce.
The story centers on a 15-year-old boy who has the ability to see ghosts and meets a female Soul Reaper, a member of an order that escorts the souls of the dead. A fight with an evil spirit causes the Reaper to transfer all her power to the boy, leaving her stranded in the human world and the boy taking over her job as a fighter of evil.
The manga, written and drawn by Tite Kubo, has been published in weekly installments in Japan since 2001. Viz has collected the stories in graphic novel format, so far releasing 29 volumes.
"Bleach" has been adapted into an anime TV series that airs in Japan. An English version airs on Cartoon Network and Canada's YTV. In Japan, the title has spawned features and a musical.
As the director of such comedies as "Get Smart" and "50 First Dates," Segal might seem an odd choice to shepherd the "Bleach" adaptation, but he's been seeking to expand his portfolio by taking on darker, more action-oriented material.

Well, y'all be watching it anyway so you can despise it.
I don't really care if they do it or not.
Bleach is such quality stuff as it is.

Oh man, I just made this thread. Phooey to you. 🙁
The Hollywood Reporter newspaper's Heat Vision blog reports that the American film studio Warner Brothers "is in the process of securing the movie rights to" Tite Kubo's Bleach supernatural action manga series. Director Peter Segal (Get Smart, The Longest Yard, Anger Management) is lining himself up to produce, but not direct. The manga's North American publisher Viz Media and Segal's Callahan Filmworks partner Michael Ewing would also produce the proposed project.
The manga follows a 15-year-old boy named Ichigo Kurosaki who becomes a Soul Reaper — a "Shinigami" or "God of Death" who protects humans from the "Hollow" spirits that prey on them. Shueisha publishes the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in Japan, and Studio Pierrot has been adapting the manga on television and in movie theaters since 2004. The Adult Swim programming block of America's Cartoon Network and Canada's YTV channel have been running the anime.
Warner Brothers has already acquired the rights to adapt Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata's Death Note supernatural suspense manga, which — like Bleach — is published by Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump in Japan and by Viz Media in North America. Along with Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way production company, Warner Brothers is also developing adaptations of Yoshiaki Kawajiri and MADHOUSE's Ninja Scroll action anime film and Katsuhiro Otomo and Kodansha's Akira science-fiction manga. Viz set up an office in Hollywood in 2008 to promote Viz's properties to Hollywood interests.

Not looking forward to it =( Hollywood has never adapted a Japanese manga or show well, and the ratings on them prove it.
What usually disgusts me most is that Asian leads in the originals are portrayed by white Americans (Last Airbender made me lol, give it a one star rating on netflix and vow to never see it). Melting pot of the world, and even 25+ years after Bruce Lee we can't seem to cast Asians in Asian roles. Would be nice to see some as main leads in mainstream instead of only independent flicks.
Sorry for the vent >:-(

They should not make this movie. Worst idea ever. It would be just as much a failure that DB Evo was. Which was so bad, it made me cry at how they brutalized the show. I would see it for the heck of it, but come on it will just be dumb, and it would make no sense and probably be very rushed. Which is what Evolution did and failed(though it failed for many other things, the movie should be erased from existence).
Maybe Death Note with Efron will be good. If they completely copy the Japanese live action. Cause let's face it any anime to movie adaptation fails in comparison.
- too much info to put in, but expected
- so they rush and try to cram or cut out as much as they can
- add ridiculous canon and silly lines
- make it from being semi-violent to non-bloody (14A or 18A downed tone to PG or G)
- confuse and anger real fans
- so they can make money off little kids
Last fact all these live actions aren't made for actual fans, but for little kids so they can make more money. Cause if they actually tried to make it good, it would be too violent for small children. Also they know fans would go see it anyways, cause we just want to see how badly they can screw up a good anime series.
Mamsmilk I don't know where you got that screencap, but if it's actually from YTV as one of their edits, well I rest my case.

Oh, I can see where this is going 🤣
I honestly cannot believe for even a second that it will be good.
But then again, it might not even happen.

Why not make a live action movie of something good for once. Alita for example.... 🙄
But seriously, why not "The Girl Who Leapt through Time". It may actually be possible to translocate this without fucking it up.

You knew what the hell you were doing. 🤣
I'm pretty much with everyone else on saying that it'll suck. I don't have high expectations for this cause Hollywood has been horribly making adaptations of these things for years. And there's really no point in being optimistic when it happens over and over, cause it's like getting beaten up by a bully everyday and thinking that he'll stop doing it the moment before he beats your ass.
But watch, some member on here will be like "OMG U GUYZ R TOO NEGATIVE, DON'T JUDGE IT BEFORE IT EVEN COMES OUT I HAVE FAITH THAT THEY'LL DO IT JUSTICE"
And then the movie will show that it does suck and that member will be stuck there looking like a dumbass.

Just because someone's head was chopped off doesn't mean they're dead. That's just silly.
There is a 99.9% chance it will suck, but that may be an understatement, they need to stop trying to turn anime/manga into live action because it never works out.

I'll watch it. There's nothing to do and I want to see how they will act it out.
