First, thanks to everyone who keeps replying to my weird threads. 😀

Now, I'd like to find some manga with female tacticians. What do I mean by "tactician"? I mean someone who plans and thinks of effective and sometimes complex strategies to solve problems. Basically, someone with a very sharp mind, who can be characterized as a "plotter". Most tacticians in manga tend to be male, so I'm looking for a female tactician this time.

Please only recommend manga where the female tactician is the main character or one of the main characters, and by that I mean that she must be "main" enough to have her name mentioned in any official summary of the manga.

Types of tactician that I'm interested in:

Military tactician: She comes up with battle strategies, involving factors such as attack, defense, solo or large-scale engagements, supply routes, troop movement and fortification. Not all of these, perhaps, but at least some of these.

Political tactician: She outwits political opponents with well-thought out policies, political pressure, diplomacy and/or behind-the-scenes intervention.

Espionage tactician: Responsible for planning and perhaps even conducting covert intelligence operations that require a great deal of forethought. Perhaps a clever female shinobi? 😀 Or something like that.

Socioeconomic tactician: Comes up with unique ways to solve economic or social problems, e.g. how to avert/manage natural disasters, how to carry out rescue efforts, how to solve pollution problems, how to limit the spread of a widespread epidemic, how to stabilize a collapsing economy or how to eliminate despicable social practices like slavery. All involve strategic thinking!

Sports tactician: A sportswoman who plans how to defeat an opponent - can be for a physically demanding sport or something more mentally-oriented, like Go or chess.

Professional tactician: A professional woman who applies strategic thinking to career advancement or industrial/business projects. For example, an intelligent advertising agent who conducts thorough market research and comes up with unusual ads! Or a woman who figures out a way to (fairly or unfairly) eliminate her company's competitors. That sort of thing - basically, tactics in the workplace.

Supernatural tactician: Could be a witch, sorceress or medium who has developed complex spiritual/magical strategies for destroying/controlling supernatural forces.

That's it! Can you think of any female tacticians that fit into any of these categories? I can think of a few military tacticians from Claymore, a political/socioeconomic tactician who is the heroine of Saiunkoku Monogatari, another political/military tactician who is the protagonist of Rose of Versailles, a pseudo-military tactician who is the main character of Basara, and a sports tactician (maybe? Have yet to read the manga) from Shion no Ou.

I think girl fight might qualify for the sports tactician. Its been a while since I read it but from what I remember the girl was a genius at Volleyball (but hid it most of the time).

Threads of time - there were certain times in the manga where the female character showed tactical abilities in the war.

Dazzle and Read or Die - fits quite well with the supernatural tactician.

Hataraki Man - fits the professional tactician.

I could be wrong about some of those titles (its been ages since I read them!), but hope they help.

Sexy Voice and Robo - might qualify for "espionage tactician"
Dance in the Vampire Bund - I guess Mina might fit "political tactician"
