I got a friend of who got interested in Naruto from me watching it (sad that it had to be that with so much better out there). Also have another friend who has had his interests perked by me and another talking about a show, so he's a work in progress.

Nope.
Although I gave some yaoi manga to my gay friend. Does that count?
I'm still getting to that... all he reads is Tokyo Mew Mew, Kilala Princess? and Sailor Moon.
Unless the art is pretty he won't pick it up.
I got another friend reading Fruits Basket. and got my cousin reading random things.
and my best friend reads anything, so she reads it too, 🤣
All the time. I got my brother, my best friend HOOKED! I got a couple people reading bleach and naruto, and some more watching anime.

One of my guy friends was interested in this smutty shojo. So he read like 2 volumes before giving up x). Then I decided to be cruel and gave him a yaoi manga to read @_@. So he was my first failed experiment. I tried to get my other friend addicted, but she told me reading it "backwards" gives her a headache. Lol sure. But I got my third friend addicted by showing her Wolf's Rain. So one it total ""OTL. Sorry I phail orz''

Yes once.
It involved a very long and forceful speech as to why One Piece was so good.
I usually have to blackmail people into doing it... and it never sticks.
Ehh. My friend really watches anime, but never reads manga, though I try to get him to. Alot.. Another friend of mine saw me reading manga at the libary, and stuff. And I got him 'converted'.

I converted one of my friends with the help of another friend.
Then I have one friend that she watches anime occasionally.
I have another friend that I met Freshman year and thought "she acts like someone who would watch anime." One day she was talking about a t.v. show she was watching and it sounded a lot like Naruto. I eventually asked what the show was called and she said "Naruto", but she said it like someone who was watching the dubbed version would say it. I started off on a rant about the dubbed version of Naruto and told her how to really say Naruto names. So with her I didn't convert her to anime, but I converted her to subs. She hates watching animes in English now...actually she is kind of more picky than me when it comes to English dubs now 🤣
Then I had one more friend that watched some anime, but it was the generic kind like Pokemon and she watched some Sailor Moon. She really likes Princess Monoke though. Besides that she doesn't watch anime. She thinks of it as more of my kind of thing.
So I fully converted 1, half converted 2, and converted 1 to the right kind of anime 😉

yep, then some ghost in the shell, just to broaden his/her horizons followed by hellsing and samurai champloo...
at least that's my strategy...i've got 100% success 1/1 🤢
...actually am not to fond of converting people to anything (besides the fact that most people round me would ridicule me for trying)...so this was more a suggestion...

I would say cowboy bebop wins people over to the series itself, but not really to the entire manga/anime universe, since it has a pretty broad range of appeal.
I've never really converted anyone, more like actively encouraged people to get more into manga/anime by recommending series and whatnot. It's pretty hard to find someone my age (late teens early twenties) completely oblivious to the existence of manga/anime where I live though, so that might also be a factor. If they show interest in it, I'll encourage them to explore that interest, but I would never encourage someone to watch anime right out of the blue.

I got my friend to watch Evangelion once. I wasn't trying to convert him, just needed something to watch. All I had at the time was evangelion, he asked if he could borrow the rest or the series. That was about it. I'd say that was a feat in itself. Although I have a feeling if I showed him trigun or a non-butchered version of One Piece he'd like those too.
