I have tried to convert tons of people (namely, all my friends, and have given my 12 year old cousin the first volume of Aishiteruze Baby, not to mention kinda forced her into watching FMA and Excel Saga... one more otaku will be created soon!! MWAHHAHA!), and have successfully converted two: my 18 year old male cousin (who seriously can't live now without Fullmetal Alchemist and Bleach) and my male best friend (who I even got into watching anime like Marmalade Boy or Lady Georgie!!).
Soon, we will conquer the world!!!

I haven't converted anyone personally, but did manage to get converted by a friend in FL. She used my curiosity against me (hey, I never even watched Pokemon or Sailor Moon growing up due to the whole seizure thing) by purposely bringing her books out at lunch and showing picutres to another friend of ours. She actually managed to catch me and another friend in less than a year using this tactic. I guess curiosity CAN kill the cat...
I am trying to get my younger brother to read a bit, but since all I read is shoujo and he wouldn't like that at all, it's an uphill battle. I'd be completely lost if he didn't have friends at school with the same goal as me.

otaku posers o.O ... I can't believe there's actually something out there worse than otaku's
now i'm like officially shunned (is that a word?) ><
Yes, Shunned is a word. Atleast you didn't get the " isn't that the ultra-violent, ultra-sex comics from Japan?" by some old timers.Yes, some people still have that perception of anime and manga.
ugh! i know ....this is exactly why i don't tell anyone about my love for manga (and anime)...i'm already socially dejected by those stupid girls on the badminton team <.<
ok here's a definition (by me)
Otaku Poser: one who believes that they are an otaku (and think they know everything about a series), when in reality they are just doing it to impress their anime/manga loving friends 🤨

I kind of made my older sister like manga. Her boyfriend helped too, but I was the first to show her CLAMP >:B
Actually, she's such a seinen lover, the only shoujo she likes is KareKano.
I gave a male friend of mine all the Saint Seiya manga I had bought when I was a child, so it's sorta like I made him like manga. But he's very new to it, it's not like he had read any other manga :0
Even though I joined in 2008, I restarted my lists with only only the manga I've read since 2012 July!
I have inadvertantly... My sister's friend ended up very obsessed but I don't know what happened to her (she moved away). I somehow convinced my friends to watch anime and read again (they hadn't since elementary school) with Death Note, another with Bleach, and another with Code Geass (just anime). I never had the intention 'converting' anyone... they just happen to stumble upon me while I was watching/reading.
