But I don't want any harem ones. I want a good mixture cast of men and women.

I want the male and female lead to end up together. It's alright if there are love triangles preferably between the male mc, main girl, and other guy. It would be a bonus if you can get me one where the villain loves the main girl and tries to take her. Maybe she like the villain before realizing he is the villain. Maybe she betrays the male mc or something. Not mandatory though.

Are you sure you wouldn't prefer a female primary protagonist instead? Your preferences seem to lean more on to them. In any case hopefully these might interest you (although the romance subplots may seem too subtle):

Hana Samurai no Sahara

Choujin Gakuen - Konton Mouryou Seishun Jihen

Hitoribocchi no Chikyuu Shinryaku

Yuki ni Tsubasa

All You Need Is Kill

Really? I see it as the male mc dealing with these things that are happening to him. I'll check these out though. If you got any more, please post.

You have a point there and I guess I didn't see it that way initially. Action, adventure, fantasy shounen and seinen with male leads tend to be harem or downplay the romance entirely, barring the occasional ship segments. The romance subplots and one-on-one dynamics just tend to work better with strong female leads or atleast a sort of co-protagonist couple (e.g. Ookami to Koushinryou, Majo no Shinzou, Tokyo ESP, Mahou Tsukai no Yome.) I haven't read an extensive number of shoujo though - and I have doubts whether such josei exist - so I may be wrong.

Do you have an example as I'm really interested in what you're after? I hope you find one that suits what you're looking for too!

It's true, once you add "romance" to fantasy action with male lead, it becomes somewhat rare 😲

The ones I'm naming don't have love triangles though, and both female and male are leads.

Tsubasa - Reservoir Chronicle Which I really like, but it's a bit intricate and may seem more complicated than it needs (?). It's very good though, and everything fits. If you end up liking it I recommend reading xxxHoLic simultaneously.

Magico (IWAMOTO Naoki) Unfortunately, this one's axed, but it's a pretty good read.
