This actually happened to me I don't know how it got in, but I ended up grabbing it and let it outside, I remember it was a pain because it was at three in the morning

Yeah the best idea would just be to take it outside and let it go.

I know their cute (well I've always thought so anyway), but bats carry all sorts of nasty diseases and can be pretty cranky, some even carry rabies, so gloves would be a very good idea.

How to catch it is the interesting part though...

I'd probably try to leave it alone for a while so that it could calm down and be easier to catch later... oh, I'd also try to keep the cats from attacking it by locking it &/or them in separate rooms... don't need them going to the vet.

Well, the bats I have dealt with dont do damage but have a habit of resting in dark clothes. If they fly about, just keep still as then they will never touch u since ur a surface bouncing off their sounds. They dont bite unless they are the african wild type and r really soft to touch but their wings r kinda sticky
