Surpassed expectations by drunkguy on September 16th, 2009, 8:18pm

I've gotta say, I didn't give this series enough credit when I first read it. After the first two volumes, I thought it was just an excuse to draw naked women fighting ugly muscle bound freaks. Great art and a bit of humor but not much else. Then came volume three and a rough plot started developing around Motoko and her personalities. Since then its been a strong balance of action, drama and comedy.

Be warned though, more than a few characters, situations and story arcs are just out there in terms of believability. Suspend it and this is a great read. Don't and large chunks of this story are just plain silly. It may go without saying but it is particularly difficult in this case because the backdrop to the story grounded in a very realistic environment with normal people drawn exceptionally well.

It's a big lol to read all those comments by Laclongquan on August 20th, 2009, 1:41am

Just go to show there's never can account for taste.

This manga is very noteworthy in many aspects. The multiple personalities is quite rare to see in manga, and it seem quite deep. Some science parts seem too unbelievable, but then it's manga, suspension of disbelief is a requirement.

The two most interesting aspects are characters and humours. Our hero is a weak boy who grew up in the environment of hero anime, ie typical boy. Still, his character is quite deep and can attract our attentions. the four personalities of the girl are very diverse and distintive. Also, the same can be said for all the other characters. Even the big fat housewife mother of our hero is very interesting in her own right, which tell us something about all of them.

The humour in this manga is dry, sometimes too dark, but always funny in a twisted way. i think a lot of readers who skim ahead got turn off by this. Shrug! Jump ahead and fall into a hole, that's the fact of life for you.

Fact is, this manga is a rare kind. you dont find them much, so dont skip it.

ugh by hamburgers on June 12th, 2009, 5:42pm

*purely subjective*
So, just to see what I was getting myself into, I read all of chapter 1, and chapter 40 from page 30 on. I don't think I'll be reading this series.

It seemed pretty cool after reading the first chapter, but what happens in Ch 40 was probably the worst thing the mangaka could have done, ignoring the circumstances (since I didn't pay attention to that). As a male, he should be ashamed; I got the distinct impression that he was a masochist >_>
Well, girls and masochists everywhere will be laughing, lolpwnd!, while I will stay the hell away. If you're really intent on reading the whole series, skip the latter part of Chapter 40 if you're squeamish, or get irritated when you witness carelessly....I don't know how to put in the spoiler text, so I'll end it here. It will save you a lot of heartache. (mad propz to LeviathanZr6 for the heads-up)

If you're all about some gratuitous boobs, panty shots, and nudity, this may be your cup of tea. I find that kind of stuff to be boring in general. If its got something to do with the plot, however (only one I can think about is the lolable Yuria 100 Shiki), its not so bad. So, those are my two cents, or something like that.

In mangas, I like plot, 3d characters who aren't all pathetic, some lulz, and good artwork. This manga seems to fit these criteria, so I'd say go for it, keeping my warning in mind.

Think this story is cliche? Think again. by RiderFan on June 2nd, 2009, 7:38am

At the beginning we have the male protagonist who isn't the best looking guy, nor the strongest, but he has a sense of justice and is kind. Though he is practically useless in a fight (that changes later on) he tries anyway, which usually results in a large amount of injury (that unlike other manga doesn't heal right away).
Likable characters, great art, and a nice helping of ecchi/fanservice make this a VERY nice read!

good but too much in common with other mangas by flapple on May 2nd, 2009, 12:35am

First off the main character is a complete loser/otaku who cant fight and doesnt have good looks. Second, the girl he gets of course is a sexy hot martial artist who just happens to meet him. Third, the main character doesnt even try to get stronger, but just cries and gets beaten to a pulp while his girlfriend has to save him. Even tho i said all of this it is still a great manga. It uses some really common plots, but the author does a nice job presenting it. Now that i think about it, Kenichi is especially like this. except this more about boobs and panty shots and kenichi is more about fighting and martial arts.

Nice read if you like lots of fanservice

Good by Emuchan on April 27th, 2009, 2:56pm

Basically it's a good manga. The Fights are ,well not what you would call entertaining or that interesting but at least they aren't exaggerated like in "The strongest disciple Kenichi", although they aren't that realistic either. The main protagonist is your well known good hearted loser but he doesn't piss you off that much. There are (nearly) no "accidental boob grab followed by knockout" scenes, what is a damn good thing.
The ideas are well stolen from other manga and mixed up in a way that makes it pretty hard to recognice the originals. Doesn't bother me, it's ok to steal if you produce something good.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
The only thing which is pissing me off is the american army arc.
A bunch of kids infiltrating an American army base, all clear I don't see any problems there. If you want to make a comedy manga don't mix something like that in like fucking with the army on their grounds especially not the American army.
Oh well the last thing I have to say is, it's very shounen like which means all characters are either good or evil, nothing in between.

hibiki makes me sprung by HuhWhat on March 22nd, 2009, 12:31am

It tries a unique approach on a classic cliche of mixing martial arts and boobs, and succeeds simply by being ridiculous and simple. Of course, it won't attract normal people the likes of you and me.

The most painful by LeviathanZr6 on February 25th, 2009, 9:10pm

I belive everyone will agree with me that on chapter 40 what Hibiki did to the glasses bad-guy was a little too much, and that the last part was just downright cruel. I was torn between wincing and protecting my crotch and laughing my ass off.

Although I despise ecchi, I just LOVE this series so very much. (Guhhh bigrazz )
I love how the main character has multiple split personalities, each very interesting on their own, the strong kick-ass female characters, the logical explanations for the psychological aspect and the pleasant atmosphere in general. Heck, I even enjoy the fighting scenes to the point I even look forward to them. laugh cry
