Stereotypes Done Well
by blackluna

Rating: 6.4  / 10.0
This manga contains a lot of stereotypical elements: a kind "commoner" female lead, a school for the rich, beautiful "butlers" (valets, really, but Japanese terminology doesn't have an equivalent), and an elite of elite male lead. However, thanks to the absence of some of the common shoujo stereotypes (e.g. a female lead who is primarily looking for love, a constant showing-off, the primary motive for action being love, etc.), it avoids annoying quite early on. Both characters have their own goals and motives which are separate from each other, nor is the whole manga falling in love and getting together. In fact, it even manages to avoid "why is that amazing person in love with that sort of person." As the manga develops, the characters are flushed out and quickly move away from the generic they never fully fit into. If you can wade through the first few (say five or so) chapters, you will be rewarded with a funny and light read. The art is nice and fitting, and the pace is perfect for a slow romance of this kind.

Guilty pleasure...
by TrackKing

Rating: 7.5  / 10.0
This is a pretty fun manga to read. It's not the best and it's pretty cliched, but it's fun. I do like to read it as a guilty pleasure, even though the story is in no way deep and some of the characters are somewhat bland.

There are two problems however that make it hard to be a good read and rely on personal preference on what manga you want to read. The first one (Which in my opinion hurts the story quite a bit) is the dull backgrounds. It so boring and it might make some of the characters stand out, but you shouldn't have such boring backgrounds all the time. Every place they go to is shaded the exact same way and it's annoying. Only when it's night time in maybe one or two chapters do my eyes get a rest from the monotony. Second problem is to do with the lack of story telling. What's the conflict?

But I concede that it's a fun read. Even without a real story. No real character development, but the main female lead is cute and fun to read about so I can get along with it!

Well..

After hearing so many good compliments on this series, I decided it to read it till chapter 5. And i couldn't continue to read anymore. It's mainly because of the female lead. She's uh.. Kind of.. Well, a lot of people have said that her personality is nice and realistic? She is nice but i don't think her personality is realistic at all. It seems fake and somehow bugs me so much that I had to drop this series.

Also, everything seems pretty predictable and perfect to me. By that I mean, beautiful butlers, nice female lead.. Everything just happens perfectly in the manga and I can easily guess what's going to happen. I want something more realistic, surprising, extraordinary, and unique. The drawing is not my taste really, I wonder why many people are in love with it. Hakuou is maybe a prince type. He gives off that vibes. But he's so.. Emotionless. I want the male lead to be able to make people laugh, charming, considering, etc He has to do something to make the readers love him not just standing there and looking handsome. Cos I cannot fall in love with a character just because he's good-looking.

I don't know if I should tryna continue to read it? The main reason is the female lead is so annoying. I can bear with the drawing somehow..

I can say... this is really good from mangaka and you can not say it shallow nor over-reacting those character on the story. Not too mushy, not too much over details and I have read alots of shojo and many manga gender so I can say this will pass on regular average shojo, romance and comedy story still everyone will find it very likeable and some of us will continue following until next volume biggrin

I also love the butlers xD oh I wish I have a BF like bishounen type -omgosh- but yeah ain't gonna happen as if everyone are going crazy to have like that! And adding Himura if one my child is like her O___O" lots of guys coming to my house "Oh, no please!" I dont want to get grandMa so you think what's going on but All-in-All this is the good and even you someone say best story we have read.... just thinking like that I'm having (^.,^) -nosebleed- ahahaha LoL !

MOST PERFECT MANGA I'VE EVER READ

First off... THE ART. THE ART IS SUPER HOLY LIKE I MEAN IT'S SO PRETTY HOW IS IT THAT IZAWA REI HAS NOT HAD AN ARTBOOK RELEASED AS OF TODAY!? Well, in that one sentence, I bet you can see how much I love the art. And how I'm a fan of Izawa Rei lol

Next, the story isn't too dramatic. It's a lighthearted read, and it's cute, and all the characters are so lovable. You can't hate Ryou, or Hakuou, or even that grumpy senpai of Hakuou's (cause he's a bishie lol). As far as I've read, there hasn't been that much drama except the backstory for Hakuou (I have yet to look for raws and read them).

The comedy is pretty funny too. And Hakuou, omg, that epitome of butler perfection.

My review really isn't that helpful, but that's because I know most of the readers for this manga LOVE this manga. I mean, I don't see why anybody should hate it. That, and I don't see anything wrong with this manga. It all works together and it makes you happy and hope you have your own Hakuou serving you lol

I'm giving this a 5, it's no the worst I've ever read, but it isn't the best either. As someone below has mention about the series being cliche and overused and still believing it has some potential and interest for readers...well, I'm one of those readers who isn't glossed over by the cliches in this story. I'm not a great shoujo reader myself, I lean more towards Josei, BUT, it's something anyone (even like me) can sit down and read, no matter how overused the plot is here, even if I'm not so fond of the art itself.

Personally, I quite like the art style. The female lead isn't one of those girls who immediately blushes if the guy she likes touchs her even slightly, Well... atleast i don't think she is like that...
Well... to sum it up, I very much enjoy this manga!

My rating so far..

The art really bugs me in my opinion. There are times where I can't tell what is going on unless they said something about. The speech bubbles always cover it. I don't know if it's just me though.
Oh, and the way Izawa draws their eyes at certain angles looks very awkward..and sometimes it's hard to tell what they are feeling unless stated. Ryou's facial expressions are okay, but Hakuou's face looks almost the same every time he's worried, upset, embarrassed, and annoyed. And I just don't like both of their hair styles.

But so far the story is okay, kinda boring and slow in development. It wasn't interesting enough for me to be like, "I want to read more!" It is extremely innocent and I think that's what made it boring cause there isn't any real issue going on. You're just watching the romance between the two leads veeery slowly develop and nothing more, but that's only from what I read so far. I really wished that they would go more into depth about how Ryou is a commoner instead of just expressing it through food.

I don't HATE this series, I kind of enjoy it but one thing that always bugs me is the main girl.
.... Her personality seems kind of.. fake? A bit much? I don't know. She's a little to bubbly and happy for me to be even CLOSE to realistic. It's a bit annoying I guess.

I love this manga<3
Regardless of what people say, o.O it's not cliche at all!
At least, I don't think so. This character of the not so smart but highly couragous girl and a tsundere guy is what makes seem like that. But over all, I've never read anything about a school of butlers and ladies o_o. Seriously.

ANYWAY:
GREAT ART. biggrin I'm picky about art, but I still love this<3 It's a great style biggrin
GREAT CHARACTERS. - I LOVE THEM ALLL. They have nice personalities and are realistic to me ^^ A bit dramatic, but EVERYTHING and EVERYONE is dramatic in shoujos. O_o so really, they are very realistic.
GREAT PLOT LINEEE- Yay! I love school mangas , and I love historical-ish stuff. This isn't historical in anyway besides the ladies and butlers, bu that's why I love It biggrinD

Just read it.
You won't regret it C:!!

I'm rereading this a 2nd time! HUZZAH!
