Thank you for review, you made very insightful and valid points. ... ....might. "Mite" is like a bug, a sort of lice. You mean to say might. It may also be confusing because this is the same word for “heroic might!” as in strength. …but it’s might. >.>
My thoughts on this story have to do mainly with the idea of the weather control aspect. The love story is so so with a lot of sickly sweet lovey dovey scenes that have little or no barring on the next scene. The problem that I have is the whole controlling the weather to make little romance wishes come true. While on the surface it mite seem to be sweet it is both ridiculous and scary. If a few people wish for snow in April or May in the northern hemisphere you mite end up with failed crops that otherwise could feed thousands or even millions. The natural flow of seasons generally is the best course for crops in each area any significant deviation could be a serious disaster. In desert areas where there is little rain you would have lovers wishing for rainy days giving a dramatic increase in rainfall. This would lead to serious flooding because desert climate areas generally are designed to have water peculate down slowly and end up with surface water. The side effects of lover wishes could be very extreme. I am seriously glad that the weather in not really controlled in this fashion.
Meh, so-so. A little too cliche for my tastes, personally.
Insecure 'tomboy' (really, the only thing even slightly manly about her is her liking basketball and her short hair) almost instantly falls for hot bishie who perfect in every way, except maybe a little naive.
They go through typical couple problems - and, of course, Chihaya is always at fault for these problems (getting jealous, being 'selfish', etc, etc.), never Ryu.
One problem I have with this manga is just the sheer stupidity of the main character. I mean, she agreed to become his fiance, and eternal partner, in order to save her father from death. Seriously, that's why. And it's shown later that she could have broken the engagement at any time after that. But no, she seems to have absolutely no qualms about this afterward, and is totally happy that she gets to love him forever, even though she displayed fear and dislike for him before that. Why?
Another problem is that there's no real serious love rival - it's obvious that Ryu and Chihaya will only choose each other, which should be sweet, but is usually just annoying, with the way it's done. It makes for a boring story by way of romance.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
It's like, the way things will end up is obvious from the very first chapter - Ryu and Chihaya, love-love forever up in the heavens, blahblahblah. I'm barely to chapter four, and I'm already bored.
The only original thing is that Ryu is a weather dragon - which had potential to become interesting, but really only contributed to his annoyingly perfect, Gary-Stu character. Yawn.
All in all, I would have to say that if you're looking for a new and exciting shoujo with great characters and an original and interesting storyline, run from this with your tail between your legs. But, if your looking for some typical shoujo cotton-candy sweetness with no worries about whether the two main characters will ever end up together, this manga is for you.
I love this series, there are many ups and downs, and plently of entertaing twists! It's so very interesting to follow the main characters though their unsual situations! The story may seem simple and stright forward to begin with but it's a real joy to read more of as it continues~
