Glad I read it.

This manga was extremely well done. The ups the downs. There was a point while I read this manga that I actually got moody and pissy with my family. A sign of being well done. The only thing I wish had been different was a little more time spent on the ending and showing us some more of that relationship. But I do understand the story was about the journey getting there and not the destination.

I don't know why so many people rated this so high.

The MC has no spine. Based off various misunderstandings the MC makes decisions that are so bad that you just have to facepalm IRL. The story was "good" until a pivotal misunderstanding which the MC makes a move that personally I would think would be unforgivable. That twist seems so unrealistic from the rest of the situation. The only reason you continue to read this is because the girl isn't terrible. She's likeable unlike the MC.

I didn't expect much when I first picked up this series to read, and thought it was just some idiotic harem manga with a lot of boobs and nudity ( well you could expect that much judging the first volume cover ), but the manga turned out quite nice and heartfelt. The protagonist is a old geezer but he is sincere and nice, he of course does something stupid but understandable, not overly dramatic like typical romance manga. Everything is told in a slow pace, just like the protagonist's personality, nothing too dramatic and no over abusing smutty, a truly feel good manga that once you start reading it you would love the gentle feeling it bring and can't help but follow the two main character movement.

One of the best romance manga...

This is one of the best romance manga I've read. For me, Its one of those manga/anime that you get a bit depressed when you finish it. The length is just right as well imo. Thought there would be some rage moments because of one of the categories and one of the comments below me but its not that bad... I was actually dreading it till that other guy disappeared lol.

Was looking forward to her other works but sad to know the author is gone now sad Definitely recommended if you want to read a somewhat realistic romance with older characters instead of the usual generic shounen middle school/highschool ecchi/romance/comedy.

I began reading this with low expectations, expecting perhaps a 6/10. It's just so hard to find a good male-demographic romance. And the fact that it opens with the main character seeing EVERYthing when he stumbles upon a naked woman just lowered my expectations.

But almost all the nudity and sex scenes were well placed.
Even the side romances were handled well.
Cliches are always a problem with this genre. Like Ruka's friend from that hot spring hotel.
The complication in the middle was 100% predictable but that didn't really bother me like it almost always does. Perhaps because the mangaka was planning for it to happen since the beginning. Perhaps because I couldn't see the story going for 10 volumes any other way.
Still, for the most part I was very pleased with the main characters and their (mostly) original characterisation.

Anyways, it really is sad that the mangaka died, according to Roninwarrior. I definitely would've looked forward to her next work.
I'm putting this up there with Haru yo, koi amongst my favourite seinen-romances.
EDIT: In hind-sight, not THAT comparable to Haru yo, koi. That's one of those manga where i look back on it and it seems better with time. This is slightly the opposite. I may have over-praised a little. bigrazz It happens.

coward and stupid male lead

just another one of those..series gets dragged too much cuz of the coward and stupid male character. 70% of the manga is the result of Main character's coward and stupid way of thinking.

the main girl ended up in bed with another man which is annoying. the only thing i enjoyed about his stupid decisions is that he had many many sex with another chick.

enjoyable series? well, once that other guy disappeared, i guess you can enjoy the series a bit more.

Unfortunately, when I went to look at what else the mangaka of this work might be doing it turns out she died. Very sad news... What a great piece of work Hetakoi was and Nakano Junko's talent will definitely be missed.

I highly recommend this to anyone who likes a bit of a roller coaster ride of a love story.

Yep, I'll second Raikou's comment, except that I have a single "complaint":
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
It never really touched on how Yuu and Kotoko will turn out in the end, similarly with Shimazu and Tsucchi respectively. Though, it never stated also whether Grampa and Ruka will stay together forever and ever (though you can pretty much tell their love will survive).

And, I wholeheartedly believe that because Shizuka IS Grampa... instead of cigarettes, he should have used a pipe!
-But then again, how many college kids do you know of that would actually use a pipe? Hahahaha!

All in all, the art is fantastic, the plot is fantastic (though the drama is pretty fickle), and generally, the story is just... fantastic!

I give this a 10! biggrin

one of the best seinen romance mangas

I just finished it this morning. Thank you village idiot for taking the time to scanlate this, and releasing them all at once... it was a pleasant surprise.
an incredible manga that I think all fans of Seinen should read, it starts out off pure like a Shonen romance but real life soon rears its ugly head and it becomes dramatic
all the turmoil that people seem to hate about this manga, I'm taking about when things become awkward and the distance between the two characters grows...it all has its purpose.
they develop the two leads separately and it works, their motivations really fuel the misunderstanding that makes this a incredible but frustrating read.
people tend to forget that we read books and manga, and watch films in order to feel something. the fact that this work can invoke such emotion in people proves its worth.
in the end, it's a hell of a ride... and the reader and characters make it there together... I'm glad it wasn't easy because that makes it all the more satisfying when the final curtain falls.
A seinen masterpiece, read it.
