authentic by Falimdur on March 31st, 2009, 3:12pm

I really like this manga, i read it twice and both times it was very enjoyable. if you want to read a pretty nice romance, read this stuff.
the characters are authentic, the story is neither to heavy nor to light.
and especially the artwork is very nice, just look at some random background pictures. most of them are welldrawn and have many details...

Surprisingly good! by dreamit. on March 23rd, 2009, 5:07pm

I had this manga on my list for a while but i hesitated to read it because it's ecchi and idon't read manga's that have ecchi in it (since i'm a girl) lol. Anyway, when i started reading the first volume, the drawing was okay to me cuz i wasn't really used to that type of drawing but to tell you the truth, the art is actually quite good. The plot was good and i liked the development between the two and the ending was satisfying (:
All in all, i really liked this manga and recommend it to other's out there (:
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Props to Nekoto for not going for the other girls cuz of their big boobs and ass. Instead, he always thought of the girl he likes ^_^

Read it and read till the end wink

Its okay. by Gaoren on October 14th, 2008, 10:51pm

Definetely, nothing special. Too me anyways. Pastel, awesome manga, Parallel, awesome manga, but, the dragging on is okay, as long as something IS happening. I read Parallel first, before reading Pastel to volume 17, and I must say, this was definetly a quick work. Parrallel's character do not really differ all the much from Pastel, and definetely, the fact that she accepts him in the end, is okay, but simply the ending was, boring.

Overall, unfortunately, I would think it only deserves 6.7/10.

Of standards of art, definetely, 10/10. The artwork is quite nice, and enjoyable to read.

Ending, argh, because I've read Love Hina's ending before and Ichigo 100%'s ending, and weren't FULLY satisfied with the end, this ending was definetely fast, and boring. I think only 5/10.

A quick read, took me two nights, but it was enjoyable, as one of those mangas to pass the time.

cliche, but good by pxhai on September 19th, 2008, 12:09pm

This one is a typical HS shounen romance, yet refreshing. It's good for relaxing yourself after work, or when you are fed up with all those action/bloody/weird manga.
Ok, give it a 9/10.

Addicting romance by Conquestor on August 5th, 2008, 5:15pm

Parallel is by no means a genre defining manga. However, it takes know formulas, and improves on them.

Great characters and story (Albeit pretty generic. At least the author added a few twists), with good art and progression. Basically a nicely done, but fairly standard comedy/romance.

So far, Parallel > Pastel by Draco on July 19th, 2008, 10:13pm

Granted there was a great deal of Pastel Parrallel comparing going on... I have to say, I like the characters from this series a little more than Pastel. Don't get me wrong, I really like Pastel, but I really did like this manga just a little more so far (Since at the time of this comment Pastel is still on going), the fact that it was short and well paced. Pastel tends to annoy me a little with how drawn out it is. No problems like that here. I think the line that really won me over though was "I trust you.... I don't trust myself..."

Also, I prefer the name Nekota to Mugi. Occasionally calling him a stupid cat amused me. Mugi is so timid and Yuu so nice. Nekota always fighting with Sakura was rather refreshing... It's admittedly been a while since I've read Pastel (they get released so slowly... scans and offical release alike... scans are only on volume 17, and offical releases 11... Ugh... release things faster so I can buy them and be done!) but I don't remember near as much conflict in it.

I don't want to point out the other things I really liked because it would spoil it...

The "Reader's Digest" version of Pastel by Geese1 on March 28th, 2008, 8:43pm

As others have pointed out, this is basically the exact same story as Pastel, just condensed down to fit into 4 volumes. It seems like the author liked this story so much that he decided to expand upon it later on, as the ideas, themes, and characters and situations are almost carbon copies.

That's not to say this is bad though. Far from it, it's a very enjoyable story with fun characters, decent (although not great) artwork, and a really nice ending that leaves you with a smile on your face.

And in some ways, it's more enjoyable than it's successor simply because the story is a lot tighter, meaning you're not given a lot of extraneous chapters. This one deals exclusively with the two leads, and any other back story we may get is only in relation to how it affects their relationship.

However, while this does have a lot of benefits, I personally kind of prefer the slower pace of Pastel, in which the characters are given more time to grow and develop, and we get a lot more time to know and care about both the leads, and the accompanying players.

Also, like I said, while the artwork is good in this, if you compare it to Pastel you'll see that it still hadn't fully matured at this point, and is still somewhat rough around the edges, especially in regards to drawing the character's facial reactions.

Still, all in all it's a good entry into the romantic-comedy genre. While comparisons to it's more famous sibling are inevitable, that's still no reason to ignore this one, although I do think Parallel is better appreciated if read before Pastel. It's still definitely worth a look if you at all like the genre.

Worth reading. by Stalin on January 31st, 2008, 7:27am

This is a great story, feels a lot like a test run for Pastel, but it's still a really good story. I enjoyed it.

Good by Aenonar on January 9th, 2008, 11:21pm

Really good manga. I love the drawings and characters. However, since I read Pastel first I could always figure out exactly what was going to happen and were continually comparing them. I think I prefer Parallel above Pastel just because it's not as dragged out with filler chapters etc, and I wish I had read this one first. I'll have to rate it at 9.5 because there were so many similarities between them that I could hardly tell them apart at some points. Even the characters looked very alike, and had similar names..
