Yuuki is a girl who lies about her gender to enroll in the theatre department of Getsuryou academy, an all boys' school where all the students are required to stay in the dorm. While hiding the fact that she's a girl, she tries hard to study acting, a subject that she loves very much. One day, an upperclassman, Riku, finds out about her secret, causing Yuuki to be very worried, but she gradually becomes attracted to him. At the same time, she comes to know the real reason why she was brought up as a boy...

This is essentially a reverse W Juliet... minus the charm and humor. Gekkou Teien is somewhat predictable, and more insight into the characters' motivations and emotions would have gone a long way. Conflicts also resolve themselves with no hubbub. There's no falling action. The art is... adequate. Only a handful of panels have enough detail to make them visually appealing, and even then it really only falls into the realm of "okay". It's sort of toeing the line between sloppy and acceptable. Overall, this is not a terrible manga, but it does fall into the below average threshold. If the general idea of the plot interests you, there are other manga that do it better.

I wanted to drop it. For some reason Yuuki seemed too calm almost as if she wasn't present in the story. Yet I read until the end. And imo the ending was the best part of the story.

Oh my god, that was beautiful. Makes me wish to find a love like that too w For such a short plot it was almost perfectly executed. It was very bi, which means hetero as well as shounen-ai elements were included.

Usually gender benders annoy me, but I was pleasantly surprised with this one. It's not an original story by any means, but it's told wonderfully with humor and interesting dialogue by interesting characters. No matter what kind of dream you have, it's a dream worth fighting for and that's what I liked most about this manga. And bishies never hurt either.

I'm thinking of dropping it since it's just so unrealistic. I don't really like the characters, the plot is lousy and not existent at this point (chapter four) and it doesn't look like there will be any real plot later on. The art also doesn't convince me and I'm not ready to read a gender bender just because it's a gender bender. But maybe some yaoi/shounen-ai fans will have their fun with it since it also gives off a slightly yaoi-ish vibe. And it's not even BL. O_o Anyway, I won't rate it. It might change or I've just read too few, but it's just a beginning. But unfortunately a beginning that throws me off.
