Description
From Tokyopop: In the frontier of the American West, a veil of evil threatens to engulf humanity. Servants of the fallen archangel Temozarela are paving the way for their dark lord's resurrection. One man stands in the way of the apocalypse: Ivan Isaacs, a fallen priest who sold his soul to the devil Belial for the power to fight evil. Armed with a wicked blade and silver bullets, Ivan will give the heretics a baptism of blood in his pilgrimage for humanity's redemption.
yeah, this manga's art is step-sister to "hellsing". "hellsing" was fun and such a tasty treat for the eyes, but "priest" i will probably love. i love good vs bad stories, which this is despite the mud and necessary righteousness. i'm not quite through volume 13, but hyung's hiatus is probably better than ennis & dillon's wrap for "preacher". and i bet hyung can finish his story better and with less pre-ordained invective than ennis & dillon's ending diatribe. (and then there's that the manga/manhwa i read have so much more action than anglo comics and sometimes more action than anglo action movies. but i digress.) read this if you like horse operas, protagonists built like young clint eastwood and well-drawn guns.
What hjen1901 says is true. In my opinion there is nothing that makes me care about the characters. The introductory was kind of long too. I got bored & almost stopped reading (took almost 2 vols I think?). Plus, sometimes the script keeps on repeating over and over that it gets irritating.
This is still a manwha not to be missed though. Get past vol 2 and you'll be hooked! Although the characters are far from perfect, the story and art certainly make up for it. The views in religion are interesting and the action scenes are well drawn. It's a pity that scanlations seemed to stop... This is definitely worth the read!
A unique manhwa with great artwork that has a nice dark feel to it. The characters all feel unique, even the more mundane ones. I would recommend this to any who like to re question that which they thought they knew. Awesome read!
Priest is great. In the same unsettling genre as the whole Blame series, Priest is a medieval/cowboy/religious story about a man who lost the only thing he never had.
You can't judge the book by it's first volume, the story takes great height after this. I definitely recommend it to anyone that like different seinen manwha.
I absolutely love Priest. I became so so obsessed with it that many times I couldn't stop thinking about it. The drawing, masterpiece, every tiny detail bit that Min Woo Hyung draws, I could not help myself from falling in love with the manhwa. I did also compare it to many manga titles and it just stood out. It's the above of the comic world.
The main character is inspired in Caleb from the game Blood by Monolith (1995). In the series it looses a bit of the maniac humor from the game but is like more serious. Anyway in the paper format is very hard to show this kind of humor.
It's a great history and amazing art, it's a shame that in most of the countries is very hard to find this books and even in Amazon they haven't the complete series. At least I could read to chapter 9 and it was amazing.
AWESOME manhawa indeed. I really loved the story and the art is very eye catching and professional. I am in awe... I hadn't read such a good story in ages.
from the reviews i had read before i got this book i thought it was going to be really good but i really didn't like it. i didn't like the artwork and hardly anything happened in the first book just lots of shooting and general gore. i don't mind gore etc but i it just didn't interest me, there was nothing gripping about it and there was nothing in it which made me care about the characters. maybe the series gets better but it wasn't really my type of book so i won't bother getting anymore.
