Description

Coarse guy Maki is invited out once a month by childhood friend, elegant businessman Sugimoto Shinji. Maki always feels a little uncomfortable at the fancy places Shinji takes him too, but he goes anyway. He knows that Shinji's had a crush on him for a long time, and though Maki is straight lately he's been getting annoyed whenever Shinji talks about his boyfriends...

Oh, god damn it, it's sooo cute!! o>w>o I was screaming like a fangirl while reading this! At the beginning Maki doesn't realize his feelings and keeps making the most heartbreaking expressions! And he says Shinji is cute, but [i]he is the one who's actually adorable! Even the way he talks, swearing out of nervousness in every freaking sentence. This manga really surprised me. I thought Maki was a reluctant uke and Shinji was the gentle seme who waits, then I though "oh, no Maki's actually a sulking seme who can't accept his feelings and Shinji is the uke who's too afraid to do anything"...and what did it turn out to be? Well, read and find out, but it will never stop bringing you to the edge of your chair! And not in the disgusting reversible kinda way (because I don't like it), but in the good, exciting one! They're even both kinda semukes! The characters themselves are likable in every way. Maki is - and nothing describes him better imo - childish (heh, love how he says Shinji's a kid when he's the real one!), immature and sweet in his bad-boy way. And Shinji just kept surprising me, when I thought he was cool and distant, he suddenly had fragility to him, and then acted all hard-to-get when I never expected that! But what amazed me the most is that, even though this is a one-shot, it is really well developed. The characters are very complex and just as stereotypical as it's required, but not over-the-top! Even their feelings and the fact that, in so little, Ike-sensei could tell a deep story. I even cried when I thought Shinji waited so many years - because believe me, I know how hard unrequited love is - to finally be happy. That's how intense this little 30-something paged thing is, even when Shinji describes his love for Maki. Well, I really adored it! So much love in such a short amount of pages! It left me with the "ahh, why isn't there more?!" feeling, only to answer to myself "because then it wouldn't be that good".
