the story is just the best and is a mix of fantasy, action and suspense
i cant wait to read more and the art is addictive
i love it when the characters have a painful/ traumatic/ bitter past and
there is depth in the characters and the main character is tough but treasures life and protects everyone
the 2 main characters are sooo cool and are total oppposites with conflicting views
it is sweet and seem like a perfect combo together, like sweet sugar with bitter coffee
i also second tartufo and mikashi that if you liked illegenes then you would like this
(maybe even siesta)
basically this manga is a ten!!

To be honest, I wasn't really keen to start reading this manga when a friend of mine recommended this, because I'm not really a shounen kind of person (the only shounen I like is Death Note, and I read Naruto out of habit). I was ready to drop it within 5 pages into the story, but the art (believe it or not) kept me reading. The mangaka keeps up with the details of the characters in every panel, which is great because I've seen some mangaka slack off on drawing the details (eg. the hair) if the characters appear too frequently in the pages. Anyway, I think the art is just stunning smile.

Another thing that I really like about Replica is the main character. He's a major bad ass but a softie at the same time, which I find adorable.

The idea of having toys that kill is pretty interesting. At first, I thought it wasn't really anything special, but as the story progresses you discover more kinds of 'toys' that just make you go WOW.

Too bad the manga books won't be released in Australia anytime soon (if ever), or I would've bought all of them smile I'm dieing to read the following chapters ! !

Anyway, for all of you shounen readers out there, you should seriously consider Replica. It is a all-in-one package: action, humor, mystery (and dark, sometimes) and fantastic artwork.

The artwork is stunning, and while, the Alice-in-Wonderland theme in manga is getting old, this takes a fairly new twist which is quite refreshing.
And the cliffhanger of chapter five is killing me right now, which shows how engaging the plot is.

@tartufo - Agreed, Ilegenes is pretty sweet.

I was quite pleasantly surprised at how this series turned out. After the first chapter or two, I felt it was entertaining but nothing remarkable - however, then I got to the fifth chapter and BOOM! The plot suddenly takes a twist so brilliant that it would really turn anyone's expectations on their heads. Lol.

So I strongly encourage readers to finish reading the 1st volume, 'cause this manga really becomes something special by then. eyes The art is also pretty amazing, very detailed and kind of fairytale-strange sometimes, esp. the crazy-ass settings that take some time to wrap your head around, and the frenetic fight scenes in the middle of this mind-bending scenery. I mean it's interesting to read just because of the art, anyway, BUT add onto that a story that gets MORE interesting (instead of less, like with most series) and you have a real winner.

It's also INCREDIBLY subtexty, but that's just a side comment to alert all the fujoshi out there who're busy scenting blood (like sharks). biggrin

Bliss really knows how to pick their projects. I think I'm gonna start reading everything they scanlate, and stop even thinking about it. Lol.

Read this and enjoy yourself! If you liked Ilegenes or any of Bliss's other "action" projects, you'll probably like this.
