Description
Hina moves back to her old home town only to find that the high school is run by two opposing factions, and students identify themselves based on the color of their school uniforms: Black for the followers of the ostentatious, violent Nishizaki, and white for the followers of the misanthropic, clean-freak Isshiki. And, as if it wasn't complicated enough, there are the "grays," who wear their own clothing, deciding to be their own people. Hina finds herself stuck between the leaders of the two factions, and it seems to be turning violent.

Favourite by psycho.sprite on August 16th, 2009, 10:46am

Penguin Brothers was among the first shoujo mangas I read, and honestly, it is also one of the most entertaining ones.

Everything in this manga is perfect. Both the main and the minor characters are well depicted, especially my favourite protagonist, Hina, who is luckily not a shy, clumsy girl but a brave one with a strong heart and will. What is more, there is a great balance between the drama, love scenes and funny parts. The storyline is also amazing, plus, I loved the refreshing ending. No matter how many times I put this manga on my reading list, I never get bored with it.

Entertaining by Lillian on March 11th, 2009, 4:02am

Funnily I read this one quite after Imadoki! and not only the amount of volumes are similar but the setting too. While I love Watase's art I liked the story told and characters presented here much better. Very entertaining. But 5 vols were enough.

Really cute. It actually has a storyline. Might seem like its for 8 year olds, buts its readable for teens too. Not that lovey. But worthwhile for romance fans.

nice by halida on December 2nd, 2008, 9:01am

This one is very nice. Great art and great story. Though for those of you hoping for a love story look elsewhere. I actually enjoyed this because of the almost nonexistent romance ^_^

Didn't need romance! by feonateresa on August 4th, 2008, 10:15pm

Everyone hates the ending because the romance was left open-ended with nothing resolved. Well, in the end, the manga was really well done and didn't need to focus on romance. I felt it was enough focusing on the character development and learning about Hina's past. It was also a story that teaches you about perseverance and being independent and strong-willed which is very important. It was also very funny and an amusing story that is sure to be a fast but nice read.

I admit that it would be nice to see just who Hina ends up with, but I'm satisfied all the same.

aghhh.. by Disremembrance on June 28th, 2008, 6:44pm

I hate these open endings.. they kill me inside. gehhh... they leave this taste in my mouth like bad ramen, or the longing for more like when I don't have enough sushi.

overall a nice, short manga, but it left me wanting more.

gah i hate the ending by pinkandblack on April 17th, 2008, 3:43pm

It's funny and cute. There barely was romance! I mean i can see hints of it but the romance is very weak and the ending was not GOOD! it sucked.

Urggh!! by joymahal17 on February 11th, 2008, 9:46am

I like the story but it's really open ended one!! I hate the feeling that the guy who really loves her did not confess till the end!! and there is no hard romance basis in the story... i like the art as usual what you get from her!! it's really good!! i love her artworks!! it's pretty interesting read if you want... but don't expect a lot of lovey dovey moments...
