Description
The planet of Salami is almost identical to planet Earth. Judging from the appearance, there's nothing different from Earth... Except... The sense of beauty is VERY different. Aimi is an orphan living with her step-mother and step-sisters, and she is what we consider as being beautiful, but what THEY consider as ugly. Yet, that doesn't end the story. Just by an accident, Aimi stumbles upon Earth and meets Kyou Naruse, a self-centered person or someone called.... "The Narcissist." Our very own Cinderella Story... or not.

Overall the art was cute but nothing extraordinary. The story is simple but to me it was interesting and light.

This manga is pretty much hard-core comedy. The humor is... meh. If you're in the mood to get some laughs, then go ahead. I'd imagine that when a person reads it, they wouldn't bother judging the depth of the plot or characters, because there is little to speak of, just stuff that happens.
Oddly enough, it's not exactly episodic, as if, the author is attempting to execute a plot, but is failing utterly and throws in the comedic fillers. Therefore, for at least half the manga, you're left with a "what just happened?" or "why did that happen?" feeling... well, if you even bother to look that deep. I wouldn't. If you choose to read this manga, do it for the laughs. At least the art's easy on the eyes.

Now that I've revealed the sham of a plot, I'd like to point out the measly character development that does occur. Yes, I know, it surprised me too. The female lead becomes more confident, and the male lead learns to care about someone other than himself. Fair enough. However, when you consider how the entire manga began, these two facts become infinitely more significant, spinning together a nice moral at the end of each little adventure. Individually, the female lead is tolerable. She's funny enough (between her sarcastic thoughts and contradictory actions), and she's got some wit. If the manga wasn't so ridiculous in its premises, she might be even likable, despite the occasional tears. The male lead, on the other hand, is probably the most annoying character you'll ever meet. It took me a while to find the jokes revolving around his personality funny. His supporting characters, by contrast, were far more interesting than his 2-D personality. But since the both leads have plenty of room for improvement, I won't bash him.

My final comment? It's comedy. With nice art to boot. If that sounds up your alley, then at least try it (you'll need about 2-3 chapters to get used to the pace).

I disagree with some of the comments above. You guys are saying that shes wrong for thinking that shes ugly when shes really actually very pretty. I agree that she is pretty but you have to understand it's not like some of the shoujo mangas out there that have a main character who is pretty but for some reason thinks of her self as ugly and plain.Aimi comes from a planet just like ours except that the idea of beauty is swiched, of course if she is pretty by our standerds she is going to drop dead ugly by there standereds.Just like when she saw kyou for the 1st time he was UGLY if you remeber her interpretation of him. But even with those things I think that she should be more confident , but I dont find her annoying.

i found it weird from the first page. I guess thats its selling point. it has point of views clashing. But you'd have to imagine each one seperately, sicnei t wouldnt make sense at all if read throught human standard. Pretty is ugly, and ugly is pretty... I cant see the moral of this story, its just full of comedy that isnt really funny...

Was I the only one who saw the Glass Mask reference there? I'm still torn between whether is was amusing or terribly heavy-handed.

As for the story itself... it's amusing, Nothing big to be really impressed about. Like I mentioned earlier, the storytelling style is pretty heavyhanded and could do with a lot more subtlety.

At the beginning of the story, it may seems to be quite a boring plot, but after I read the rest of the volume, I found out that this manga is actually quite different from other shoujo manga. The main character is funny and the plot is interesting too!

I love this series because it's so ironically funny and definitely not your typical shoujo(?).

I especially like the relationship the main characters share; while the guy is a complete narcissistic weirdo-bishie, yet looks completely UGLY to the main girl (who comes from a world where the standard beauty is considered ugly, which is unfortunate for the beautiful heroine... ^^;; ) . Not to mention more misunderstanding by the main female character when interacting with the other "beautiful" characters is definitely very fun.

However, I have to disagree with some of the previous comments because although Aimi may seem to have a weak personality, the manga has shown hints of a very sarcastic and bitter personality (not to mention her crazy strength), especially when dealing with Kyou, who often has very crazy/stupid plans planned for her.

This manga is really awesome and cute and stuffs but....she doesn't have any confident..just like narcissist said, she hates herself and thinks that she is not pretty when she truly is. But I can understand why..it is just like being traumatized by something or it is simply just the way she was brought up!

I've been waiting forever for a new chapter. This is almost like a late christmas present. Anyway, this series is REALLY funny. I love the dude (haha can't remember his name!) when he's all in the mirror about how good looking he is. I also wonder how Ami turned out so pretty compared to her "sisters" i have a feeling they aren't even related for some reason....
