So NOT Cute

Sorry, I don't see anything "cute" about a high schooler making out with an elementary school kid. I read this because the shota tag was taken off. I figured it would be about how they met and fell in love as kids, and there would be a time skip to when they were older and able to be a couple. The whole things just creepy. Even if they didn't have sex when the guy was in elementary school, they were still talking about how they had perverted thoughts about each other. Gross

Cute

I wanted to give this manga a try because it's a shotacon with high rating-- I hoped to read some shotacon with a plot, interesting charas, etc. But as some other reviewers mentioned, this isn't really shotacon (I mean-- it is, because shota doesn't equal boys having anal intercourse, but this manga isn't what most people would think of after learning it's shota). I think that as long as you're open-minded and can see difference between manga and reality, you may enjoy this manga, even if you aren't into shota. It's very cute and heartwarming. There are no sex scenes, it's all just adorable. I can't understand why anyone would be bothered by this manga... it's fiction, fantasy, and the characters aren't even all that realistic-- show me a grade schooler like Atsushi in rl, please...

Said that, I don't find the story super awesome. It's very cute, but what makes it unique is the fact that it includes a little kid with a high schooler. Other than this, the story is your regular romantic stuff-- some misunderstanding, some tears, some "I love you so much". But it is enjoyable and I wasn't rolling my eyes or anything biggrin

The boy has cute outfits biggrin

This manga ruined my life because it is perfect. The story is flawless and adorable, the drawing is amazing, and it made me want to never finish reading it. It's so cute. If you don't like it, I respect your opinion but you're wrong.

Don't be put off by shotacon warnings!

Well, I don't get the "creepiness" that some other reviewers have mentioned. Even though it is a 10-year age gap, at least their relationship is mostly innocent as all they do is kiss, hug and hold hands, and thankfully there is no underage sex.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
They do both admit to thinking perverted thoughts about the other but thinking is as far as it goes!

I generally don't like shotacon. I usually lack morals when it comes to manga, as it is just fiction (that's why I love brotherly/cousinly incest in BL, while in RL I most definitely wouldn't) but there are still some lines I can't bear to see crossed, and shota is one of them. So even though technically this is shotacon, it really isn't what most people would expect. It's a nonsexual type of shota really, as the characters are more cute rather than erotic (if that makes sense?) So that's why despite not being a fan of the genre, I can still like this particular manga because even though Atsushi is underage and in a romantic relationship with someone 10 years older than him, we thankfully never see him naked or doing anything even remotely sexual until he's an adult! <--- I felt I had to make that point clear XD

And to be honest the age difference between them is what makes this manga so sweet... Instead of taking advantage of a younger boy, Yuuji does the right thing and says they'll have to wait until Atsushi's older before taking their relationship further. I think that shows how deep his love for Atsushi is, since he's willing to suppress his desires for so long. Plus, he's not like some old guy preying on a naive child. After all, at the age of 17, Yuuji is still just a kid himself, and he is the one who is actually pursued and even kissed first. Even at just 7 years old, Atsushi shows strong seme signs! (¬‿¬)

Anyway, the art is of course amazing. Mishima-sensei never fails to wow me! Her clothing styles are just so awesome~! And I love her use of chibis too. They are always so cute and funny ^_^ This has such a perfect balance of humour and romance that you'll be laughing at one panel then "awww"-ing at the next.

The one thing that I don't particularly like is
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
that we don't see any actual age progression. It's only whilst their young, then BAM, skips to 10 years later. So what I mean is, why did we have to miss everything in between!? I would've loved to see their first time! (^_-)-☆ Though I did like the time skip, it was lovely seeing them still going strong! Very cute <3

The oneshot at the end is sweet as well, again there's a hefty age gap (15 years this time), but at least the youngest character is of high school age, so I think most people would feel a bit more at ease with that set-up. Not a great deal of character development, as it is less than 40 pages long, but still it was a nice enough read.

So while the title story is shotacon, it's not the sexual kind that a lot of us try to avoid. I may seem like a hypocrite as I love this manga yet hate the shota genre, but I don't care. As this is the only shota I've ever liked, I think it counts as a rare exception, and TBH it's all thanks to the innocent and heartwarming plot and of course the endearing (and fabulously dressed!) characters. So if, like me, you enjoy Mishima-sensei's other works but are uncomfortable with this type of genre, then please don't be put off by any negative comments. You'll be missing out on a lovely, romantic, and pretty(!) story, so please give it a try for yourself! ^__^ And if you are a fan of shotacon, then I'm sure you'll find this adorable too!

I do admit to enjot shota mangas, but that's not the reason I read this one, I love this mangaka's work and I happen to be reading manga for most of my life (makes me a huge otaku) so I guess I am pretty open minded, so here's my problem, if you see a small kid on their, its most likely a shota, and let me tell you shotacon is a genre that will stay. The thing is I want to hear people's opinion on the plot, the character development, the art. Not "ew shota" or anything with personal things that wont affect how good the plot is, it's because of unneeded reviews like that, why many people pass on mangas that they them self may enjoy. This is another great work and I'm sure anyone that enjoys yaoi can enjoy, but if your close minded to shota then move on.

Very creepy. This should have a shota tag. I read the entire volume and although they never have sex while he's a little kid, they do cross enough boundaries to have made me super uncomfortable. Even just having a romantic relationship with a kid is really too much for me. I had hoped that more of the story would be about them as adults, but there was very little of that. I found the oneshot creepy also. I'm not always grossed out by stories about teens with adults, but that one was icky(let's see how many ways I can describe this as gross. Haha). Soooo if you're in to that kind of thing, I guess you would probably enjoy it. This wasn't for me though.

Also I will add that I think it's completely valid to mention you disliked something because it contained shota when it is not listed as such. If I read a comment saying so, it would be very helpful to me.

completely scantalated

a shame i put this off because it says here it is not completely scantalated so a stroke of luck make me able to encounter the whole version. so anyone in game for a light bl with young seme should read this! the art is cute and i like the turn down mouth. the characters are run of the mill 1 dimensional robot, but somehow they work perfectly. well, i like characters that is easily figured out so it work perfectly. the plot is simple, and i love there is no annoying third wheel. as a shotacon, the younger seme thing work very well to me though some others may be against it. but they dont do anything 'icky' so it just a matter of tolerance. in a whole, for people not expressly trying to find shotacon story, this is not something to get excited about but something you read just because it's there. but people with this particular kink will like it.

Not what I was expecting

I'm glad I read this one, and it's all thanks to the Baka-reviewers, so many thanks to you people. I should really put in practice the adage "never judge a book by its cover", because here clearly the cover doesn't do justice to the content, and so what a pity!!!!

The elementary schoolboy looks older in the book, between 11 and 13, and so despite him being younger it's more acceptable to me than the 7 year old boy on the cover. I surely love the clothes he was wearing, for him to be dressed so stylish for his age, it was a pure delight for my eyes, and not that I am what you can call "une esclave de la mode", not at all!!!

Hats off to the mangaka for not including any sex scene between them when Atsushi is still a kid (so it is a very light shota I would say). They do kiss but not too much, and it's not erotic, so even I can bear that or tolerate should I say. I must say that there were times I really thought they would crossed the line, because it was borderline at a moment, but thank goodness they did not do anything not even foreplay until the youngster was a grown up.

I strongly disliked shota, it was my first and probably last attempt to the genre.
I must admit that I did like the age progression, because I didn't thought it would be be happening, however
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
It would have been even better if the manga had at least two more chapters to observe the age progression. We do get to see Atsushi as an adult, but we do not get to see the evolution of the relationship. He was still a kid when they began dating, and so as him going through adolescence, there were a lot of things that should have changed. They could have broken up and then got back together because of various issues.

Anyway, I'm content I give it a try because it was really worth it!!! If they were more stories like that with better cautiousness about the age gap, I would gladly read more of them.

IT'S CREEPY!!!! O.O but it's sweet, at least they don't do anything...creepy. XD But I went 'OH MY LORD!!!' all the time...but hooray! It ends sweetly. Hahaha, definitely worth the read despite that slightly creepy factor in the beginning...hehe.

At first it creeped me out so bad that the kid was like 7 years old and the other guy was like 17. It still kind of does, I won't lie.

However, they don't do anything creepy, and (SPOILER!!) they do technically end up together even years later.

But, aside from the creepiness, it's just such a cute story! I would definitely give it a try.
