Why are some people who reads this just gives it a bad comment just because the romance is slow? The romance is simply slow because the girl can't just go on with her love life when she understand a few. She needs friends first and knowledge, because of these her feelings slowly evolves into the pathway of love. She can't just focus on romance first. If you put yourself in her shoe. It takes time to make friends and when you lack the knowledge of love you cant just keep pursuing for it when you don't even know it. This manga shows what real friendships go through, and how you need to be patient for love. This is a great manga, the plot is great and how the characters slowly evolve.

Angel Densetsu + Yama Nade (PFE) by barny on November 11th, 2009, 4:26am

I agree with steadystrike when he said that this is a blend of Angel Densetsu (minus the fighting) and Wallflower(minus the unprogressing story and characters). Its the exact same thought I had after reading through the first 5 volumes. Despite that this is not the first time that a character was made out of sadako, it blew my mind away. At first, I wasn't expecting much from this because the premise is a lot like in Yama Nade. It only took a few pages before I got hooked. So if you liked any of the two series mentioned above, give it a shot and it probably won't be a miss.

So Sweet by brimac13 on November 11th, 2009, 12:28am

I've only read as far as the scans (volume 6, chapter 21 as of this comment), so I don't know about anything past that at this time. With what I've read so far, I have to say that this is the sweetest manga I've read. I haven't found anything to make me smile more than Sawako and the friendships she's gaining. Of course, not much else frustrates me more than Sawako's social awkwardness, either. It's still very cute, though.

Also, this manga has mostly cured me of my fear of (the American version of) The Ring. And I couldn't sleep through the night for several weeks after I saw it (and I was a high school junior).

surreal!!! by genre001 on October 29th, 2009, 4:35am

at the onset, i was a bit off when i started reading it. it has a slow pace and there's a lack of cohesiveness. but after awhile, starting on the 2nd volume, things change. the word "curiosity" will rise up. the story, with regards to its other rival on its genre, is somewhat the same. the only thing that is different is that the main character has no social experience. friends, love, sharing emotion to one another, the protagonist never experience this - which is realistic in every detail. the only thing that is off, is the initial pace. but if it will be read continuosly, the pace pick up. yet, we can never say if the pace and plot will still be interesting since its not the story is still ongoing... Let's just see what happens next.

Keep reading- it gets better. by Dragoness57 on October 5th, 2009, 9:48pm

i promise you, you will regret not reading this.
you will also regret if you stop where you are at, because it gets INFINITELY better..

volume 8 totally kills me it's so good..

the tension in the male character is delicious.

there's really not much i can say to describe how good this series is- it's unique, cute, and i think the characters are built in such a heart warming way..

plus, the stimulating romance that develops later is just <3

One of the best manga I've read so far by steadystrike on October 5th, 2009, 9:43pm

It's funny how a chapter can make you cry and laugh at the same time. This manga has been an emotional roller coaster for me and I'm dying to read the next chapter. If you haven't read it yet, you definitely should even if you are not a shoujo manga reader (which I'm slowly becoming) Additionally, the story reminded me of Angel Densetsu and The Wallflowers mashed together with a dash of clever dialogs and storyline.

Despite this being of the shoujo genre, I can--as a male--say I'm sincerely enjoying Kimi no Todoke. It's a bit more realistic than your average manga (ie in the shoujo sense, the male leads aren't some stoic, unbelievable superhumans; in the shounen sense, the most attractive girls aren't the exclusive love interests of the male leads). There is a very interesting and memorable cast of characters, and they serve for great comedic value. The story is well paced and, despite Sawako's oblivious nature, it refrains from dragging on (Though, at the time of this comment, I've only read up to vol 5, ch 19). While there isn't a whole lot of depth to the main relationship, it is sufficient (and it isn't something as shallow or artificial as "he's/she's cute/cool/popular," which is frustratingly common in manga), and its charm developes to something much more as time progresses--never becoming stale.

The only thing that struck me as odd is that the author--while trying to foster a creepy image for Sawako--really ended up making her gorgeous. In my opinion, the closest thing to fear one might experience from Sawako's appearance would be intimidation from her beauty. Now, while I understand that mangaka may not yet be ready for "more sobering" character appearances (especially with regard to females) in their stories, Sawako's character design could have been portrayed as much more frightening while maintaining her beauty. Despite her "The Ring" bangs, she's still a princess.

Boring by BlackandRedStreaks on September 6th, 2009, 3:58am

I don't see what everyone's raving about. While it's not a bad series (I like the art a lot) it's not a particularly good one either. Both of the main characters are forgettable and I keep waiting for something exciting to happen and it never does.

Highly realistic by silk.griffin on September 4th, 2009, 11:08pm

I don't know about any of you but in the high school that I attended, this kind of romance is pretty common. We didn't have much of those roller-coaster relationships. Sure, it happens but it's not the norm. Guys in my school really respect the girl they like so courtship is rather slow. They almost always starts off as friends. Which I believe is memorable. *gosh* I miss high school.

This is the reason I adore this manga. It's highly realistic and devoid of too much perversion which pervades the current shojo manga scene. Sawako is dense, sure. That's because this is her first time falling in love. She's not exactly a veteran who can read guys' intentions. And anyway, she believes that Kazehaya is merely being friendly and nice to her. Most of us makes this mistake when we're young. Kazehaya hasn't exactly confessed right? Besides, I don't think she has reached the level of love as Kazehaya where he wants to possess her. His jealousy stints are highly amusing. If she reach this, maybe she'll open up her mind to a relationship, which she doesn't covet as of now.

This is like a breathe of fresh air. I can't wait for the anime to start. And Daisuke Namikawa as Kazehaya, woah. Now that is cool!
