Even if it stays true to it shounen roots and all that but I like the survival theme and the protrayal of the prehistoric mamals is good (no Dinosaurs) the mamals of that time suffered of gigantism (i'm not joking) one thing i don't like is the country ideal i find it irealistic they ought to start with a tribe or a village (towns didn't emerge until later when population growth reached a certain threshold ) |

| The Lord of the Flies or is it Lord of the Flies what ever thats what this manga is based on by jajakaha on August 5th, 2010, 1:56am |

It a spin-off of The Lord of the Flies I kinda like it because its eerie and gruesome but hate it for the same reason. I like how it shows how ugly people can be when theres no rules and how dependent we are on society, but then again its betrayal there murder here, disease that makes your eyes bleed and then die. I mean Im scared one of the main charaters are gunna get raped -.- anywaysssssssssss..... READ THIS IF U LIKE DEEP SCARY EEK AMAZING FREAKY MANGAS with hot chicks and 5 ton dinosaur thingys

| I love this kind of manga! by lorgeinoh on August 4th, 2010, 7:34pm |

survival or something it really shows the darkness of people when things got crazy but then there are people who can managed to stay in shape even in this condition. people who have darkside somehow show their true self in this kind of situation specially those who take advantage. the author did well in showing how people will react in this kind of situation and the worse people who already have darkness is one of those people making it more of a hassle for the protagonist oh I love the characters all of them has a specific rule in this manga.
i'm in the newest release i really wonder what that woman said attacked by the bear is kinda sounds fishy for me since it is an era of dinosaurs.

I liked it at first, then it just got boring.... Maybe it's just me though, as I am not really a fan of this type of manga(survival plot). There doesn't seem to be anything new about it, so I am dropping this.

I actually quite like this manga. It's setting and plot is interesting [also the animals~ since most of them I never even heard of before xD] It gets even better later on [chinese scanlations are up to ch60] Though everyone seems to compare it to other series like Lost and stuff...I haven't watched them yet so I can't compare them. But Cage of Eden by itself is entertaining xD [no idea how to describe how good the series without spoiling it]
@comel and McCasper
Spoiler (highlight to view) and those who were wondering how the glasses guy recharges his laptop, you will find out in ch 54 xD But yea...he does have to recharge his laptop |

| What's with the criticism? by asrodeia on April 9th, 2010, 6:45pm |

@wait321: Well, they didn't... If they froze. @acritic: There was some logic there. For most animals, if you show that you are too much trouble to bother catching, they MAY(not fool proof, of course...) turn and go get some easier prey, especially if it is available. For the saber-toothed tiger, if the bird thing hadn't come charging at them, they would never have noticed it sneaking up behind them... It was suddenly there. Also, the rhino things were rutting, right? like stags, they were competing... the kids were just in the way. That pack of panther things seemed more like hyenas to me, with the line of fur... which are feliforma as well, but they hunt a bit differently.
This is a great take on Lord of the Flies... they even have the lord of the flies(kind of, in an abstract way)
and that underwater seal ancestor thing? ok, yeah, but if it was TOO realistic, they'd ALL be dead, so....
And yeah, it is odd how the laptop didn't get ruined in the water...

| I'm really starting to appreciate the whole island survival gig and this manga doesn't disappoint. Good, simple main character if generic and a good feeling of suspense. Minor things that annoyed me: Spoiler (highlight to view) Laptop with infinite battery (at least say that its solar powered or something), illogical behavior of beasts, high school kid beating up trained soldiers.

This kind of criticism might be meaningless to many of you who're reading my comment, but I just like to say few(one) things that I noticed as illogical or as flaws in the nature - that is, encountering such living things in the wild.
I've read myriad of mangas regardless of its genre, of course, except those ones for girls(I am man), and I should say this, "Cage of Eden" is flawed for the part that the animals in this manga are not well performed. For example, as a generally accepted knowledge, we all should know that carnivores especially that of felidae in the jungle do not just appear right front of its prey, rather, they camouflage first and attacks second. But in this book, I noticed a saber-tooth cat just walks down the hill out of nowhere and screams for nothing then attacks(ch.2, pg.18-28). What a nonsense behavior. Another example, when an ambulocetus attacks(ch.11-12). Not only ambulocetus but all swimming creatures in the sea should move really fast that no human can ever stand up against especially in the case when a human was hunted to feed under sea, and the bone should also be crashed when it was bit. However neither happens in the scene.
Despite it is a mere manga, if it has as such degree as of this seriousness, I expect to see some reasonable logic based on the facts, and I would expect some increase in tension too. I will be enjoying more seeing a scene on the perspective of animal hiding like Steven Spieldberg's which will eventually create better suspension than a spotlight for nothing. Although, I praise for the author's effort, I think he/she must study harder for the subject beforehand if and only if he wishes to be the top of his game and not trick the audience intentionally or unintentionally.

| Anyone else like survival romance? by flapple on November 8th, 2009, 10:27pm |

I love this so far. Survival and romance is probably my favorite plot and genre combo. GREAT stuff here. I mean the main guy isnt a total wuss, nothing really tragic so far, the horror is mild, and the psychological affects seem realistic
