Emotional, not emo by akari_mizunashi on June 2nd, 2009, 9:51pm

I've got a lot of experience in the world of bl webcomics. I even have my own. Some are nauseatingly terrible, and some are truly great. A Song for Elise falls squarely into the latter category.

Don't be put off by the "emo" label- yes, one of the characters is in an emo band and another has chronic depression, but the wangst and pretentiousness that accompanies emo is absent here. Emotions are realistic, moving, and melodramatic, aided by Batista's talent in paneling and drawing subtle emotions. Despite the fact that English is not her first language, the dialogue in this is well-done and meaningful. The sum of every well-done part makes a wonderful emotional, romantic manga.

And, if you're into the smut, this has it. I haven't read that far, but apparently there's over 30 pages of sex in the first volume alone. And, if Batista's talent for drawing expressions can at all represent her talent for drawing smut, it's probably pretty hot.
