From Nakama:

Dr. Uzuki, who works at a university teaching hospital, comes across in an alley and saves the Yakuza member Nonami after he's been shot. The next day, when Nonami shows up at the hospital, Uzuki is scared that he's come to make sure of his silence after he's seen the gunshot wound. But actually, Nonami, who misheard Uzuki's name and has mistaken him for a woman named "Suzuki", has forced a younger yakuza brother into being admitted into the hospital and order to find this woman, and they've started to search for this 'Suzuki'...

The timid rabbit-type doctor and the Yakuza with the chisled strength of a tiger - a law of the jungle love!

The second volume contains the sequel to "Spell it as Lie, Read it as Truth".

This is probably the best thing I've come across in a long time. I don't mean to say it's deep and thought provoking or anything, but it's just the type of yaoi (great drawings, heart-wrenching romance, romantic plot, pacey development) that is exactly my preference. Yakuza stories sort of stresses me out because of how potentially dark and dramatic the story could become, but once I do get into them they're worth it, including this one. I appreciated the subplot with the seme's yakuza troubles and all, and I also appreciated that it was wrapped up nicely with time to spare for the romance. I wished it would have continued on longer. I mean, an extra chapter or two wouldn't hurt at all.

The second story about the tutor and ex-neighbor was cute too, although the seme may go too far sometimes. What's funny is that the huge age gap in this story gets me, although I'm super fine with the uke in the first story looking so young because he was at least 27 in the story.

I've actually finished reading this one. It's a cute story. The seme, named Nonami, is straightforward with the things that he wants, but he cares for it as much as possible --- be it the neko, named Uzuki, or other things he hold dear. On the other hand, Uzuki is the typicaly 'scared-of-a-yakuza' person. Despite that, he ends up accepting Nonami's love.

So far only up to volume 2 is availble in English. For those of you giving this a bad review, if you buy the translated version, the licensed version, I think perhaps you will find a difference, or maybe not to each their own. If you quickly read this, you also will not get all the in's and out's of the story. The tough guy has many reasons for his actions, and the doctor is not as big of a whimp as he seems. The doctor is the one who the yakuza thought he was looking for at first, and if you read the story in detail you can see a romance bloosom. I mean we are talking about a romance book here. Be it yaoi or hetero, you do need to use your imagination. Overall this is a very good, light fund read, with some well done humour.

Great Story

This was a great story, very well done. The characters were charming and the plot line was more in depth then the usual yaoi fare. The art was very nice and the animal characters were charming and did not take away from the story. The side story was also very entertaining.

As for some of the other comments about the seme sleeping around to negate sexual frustration, these readers obviously did not understand the storyline at all, especially in the case of the nurse. If you read the manga and see it that way I urge you to reread a bit as it is not a complex concept to grasp. Or some of the other comments explain it more in depth in the comments.

I dont get why this is rated so high. The doctor was cute (who looks like a 13 year old) and the yakuza was pretty tough looking... But this mangaka failed to convince me why the yakuza was in love with the cute doctor. The fact that the doctor rescued him wasn't thoroughly explored... I wish she would work on that issue. I know he's thankful (since he is desperately searching for this Suzuki person) but I would very much want a touching scene b/w them of the yakuza thanking the doctor, instead of all those yelling and scaring him. The doctor being shy and scared all the time was too repetitive. In addition, the romance wasnt believable, all I got was the yakuza repetitvely said "I love you"...
And this brings to another issue, why is this man sleeping with a nurse and having a four-way(!) when he claimed to be in love with the doctor? I get it how he has "needs"... But.. Shallow much?

The art wasnt the best but I do give her credit for plot originality. I just feel it has all the right ingredients but wasnt excute well, especially their romance.. Not to mention the ending was pretty stupid.

The doctor is abso-frikin' ADORABLE. The story really pushes the analogy of the one guy being a big scary tiger, and the other a skittery little rabbit. Despite scary appearances, the seme is really nice toward him, and doesn't force him and is accommodating.

Theres a tiny bit of sex, not at all graphic.

There's also a side story (I think) about a tutor whose former student wants to be in a relationship with him.

don't read some of these reviews :/. those readers seems to have SKIMMED the manga rather than actually READ it, which for this mangaka's stuff, you need to actually READ.

It's great stuff. I couldn't stop until I read all the available chapters, even in Chinese, hahaha.

Like Melon-ramune-freak says, the top sleeps around so that the rival yakuzas would think that the nurse was just a fling, nothing special, because or else they would be able to use the uke to their advantage, and he doesn't want to put him in danger.

Anyways, the plot's great, and there's space where the characters develops deeper feelings for each other. Give it a read! smile I think i'll download the drama CD tomorrow. It's 3.30am right now, hahaha.

It's one of those heart-tugging mangas that have comedy and drama so balanced out, it's awesome. Don't get me started on the tension...OMG, the tension between them. I love it when the Seme holds back and I love that the uke has the power. So incredibly cute and unique, it has me squeeing every turn of a page. The wait for an update is painful and agonizing and I wish I started this when this was over because dammit!! The wait is just torture!

Sure, others think it's average or 'the usual' (which I don't see at all other than the familiar tropes) because the seme's a jerk (most of the time) but this theme has always dominated BL, and heck, even the romance genre in itself. It works when the author knows what she/he is doing and in this case Honma-sensei totally knows what she's doing and where she wants the story to go.

I love the fact that they were both straight because I'm more of a "He's not gay, just gay for *insert uke's/seme's name*" kind of BL fangirl and this theme plays so well in this manga unlike others where it's jump right to hot smexy man sex or heavy misunderstanding caused drama. Usagi-chan doesn't get raped which is a plus because the usual 'omigosh-he's-raping-my-virgin-ass-and-he's-not-so-bad-i-love-him! ' thing that usually accompanies this type of yaoi isn't present.

I love it that the uke wants the seme to do him and didn't realize his feelings near the end of a rape scene which doesn't happen here.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The fact that the seme sleeps around is normal for a man like him with an occupation/reputation like his so I don't get why mangafan321 decided to point this out when knowing that the seme was upset at the time and wanted to get away from the uke because of the danger he posed and the misunderstanding that the uke wanted sex to get rid of the seme. It's in the same chapter he/she mentions.

Anyways, it's my first time reading this mangaka's work but now I'm sure it won't be the last.

I have really enjoyed this so far. The pacing and characters are just perfect. The balance of comedy to more serious content is really great also. This is one of those series that may not be so unique on paper, but ends up being something really special. I have volumes one and two and hope they continue to be released!
