I thought it was dumb from the beginning, so I don't have the disappointed expectations that other people here have. It's fine if you realise that the whole premise of a spider-themed child assassin whose special power is magical-autism is stupid and take it from there. It's not good, but it's entertaining enough.

What I don't like though is the rape/sexual abuse fanservice. It's creepy.

Can't believe this was written by the same person who wrote Jackals, which IMO is a great manga.

Started out like it could have been an interesting story, though the plot devices were so-so. I was kind of disappointed when I realized the 'CEC', they were going on about was just a fake version of what sounded like Aspurger's. But I could get over that.

When the lolis started to flood in and tried to rapekill the poor girl was when I said NO.

My condolences (and a few lols) to the first commenters who were looking for 'romance with assassin-san'. No. You get disturbing romance between lolis who are seriously not right in the head.

Welcome to my dropped list, Arachnid. It's filled with lots of other dark ambiance seinen manga whose plots weren't enough to keep my interest. Try not to get beat up.

Have to agree witht he poster below who said that its a bit silly but entertaining and that its marred by all the rape/sexual abuse stuff. Someone is nearly gang raped or implied to have been gang raped in every volume generally for no narrative purpose whatsoever

this manga is simple. simple plot simple characters simply great. sometimes you just wanna read something that doesn't require logic or deep thoughts. that's why i love this manga. i like bloody, gory, implausible mangas like these. after death note and a few others that left me feeling like i missed the point because of all the insane illogical basic rambling, this was a refreshing change. who'd have thought learning about insects could be this entertaining and easy to understand outside of the discovery channel. it's like reading about some violent insect kingdom except all the insects are in the shape of people. FUN STUFF at least for me

please oh please let there be a romance between the chick and the assasin! i really love the dark violent story right now. i sincerly hope that this manga doesn't go mainstream battle manga because i like the seinen undertones. main character is cute and cool but i would prefer her not to be a psycho killer though, i want her to keep her humanity and compassion if its possible. the main guy, kumo, is the no nonsense, no friends, intellectual, coldblooded type. can she win his icy heart over? i sure hope so......... even though that deffinitly wont be the main point of this manga at all. if anything it will be the psuchological journey of an assasin plus some graphic violent sceens. love it! art gets a seven though......

The beginning was very promising. Dark atmosphere, killers, apprentice surpassing her master, etc.
But then it steadily became more and more pointless fanservice and clichee. The 'roach' and the 'grasshopper' are gross clichee-characters with no real substance, there are no killings anymore (very inconsistent with the atmosphere in the beginning), no real dark ambience...
In a nutshell, this manga is headed towards crap ending at full speed. What a waste...

Theres not much to say here. The story starts off great with child abuse, murder/hitmen/assassination and the seedy child usage of the underworld.

And then throws the main character into a cliche high school setting shounen style. Instead of being an ultra-rare, ultra-awesome child fighter/assassin, its revealed that there are countless other ultra-rare, ultra-awesome child fighters/assassins yet they live perfectly normal lives within human society... in high school of course.

The story gets progressively typical from there. Theres the manipulative president (who has superpowers of course), the jock with a deranged sense of justice (who has superpowers of course) and the over-the-top pure maiden who has to be protected by the main character.

Since I'm bored of the typical character types present in most manga, I was glad to find this manga.

It's not great from the point of view that it follows the typical shounen battle manga cliches as some have pointed out, however despite the predictable plot it has so far shown a lot of fun characters.

Now the real reason I wrote this comment: The student council head looks like Alyosha from http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=54487
Paticularly the hair (notice how the bangs cross in the middle). She's not a character you meet right away though so don't skip ahead! =D

Sugar plum fairies and puppy dog tails. That's what this cute, little, assassin story's made of.

Sure, little teenage girl is almost raped by her guardian uncle after her mother's suicide, gets taken in by said guardian's assassin, trained in the dark arts of... concentration, and subsequently mercy kills the paternal miyagi figure (all happens in the first volume... so, not really spoilers).
I just can't help read this as some sugary sweet shoujo expecting frilly flowers and star bursts to pop-up on the next panel... despite what occurred on the previous panel from a wailing lead character to attempted human meat mincing with the arachno-knife.

The series isn't bad... it's just a juxtaposed piece of sugary murder.
