Description
27 year-old Ayukawa Yuuji has never been much of a man. He's more comfortable sewing than fighting, he faints at the sight of blood, and his fiancee is tougher than he is. He's also a terrible pushover. So when his boss at the medical lab volunteers him for some experimental drug therapy, how can he possibly refuse? All's mediocre for Yuuji: master of the pathetic.

Mediocre, that is, until a juvenile mass murder suspect jumps out from under Yuuji's bed, declaring him his "mate." Before Yuuji has time to argue, the stranger transforms into a 16 foot-tall dinosaur and beheads his roommate...

Yuuji suddenly finds himself the sole target of a lost race that turns into dinosaurs, an extremely scary woman with a Goddess-Complex, the yakuza, a mad scientist and one 17 year-old boy who really, really, really wants to sleep with him.

This manga is not your typical BL love story but has it good points!!!
It mostly highlights inhumane scientific experimentation on humans and dinosauroids.
It has some unpleasant scenes where humans bodies are torn off their flesh by dinasauroids and Yuuji is occasionally raped because he is a modified hermaphrodite which was the result from the experimentation done on him to become a rare female specie so that male dinosauroids can breed on him.
I admit that Yuuji has no backbone at first volume and but continually change for the better,
Minato was also brutal and unemotional at first but learned to love Yuuji from the bottom of his heart and not think of Yuuji as just a female specie to breed.

Although some scenes are not easy for the eyes specially the brutality and rape but what made me hold on to this manga is the love that Yuuji and Minato hold for each other.
I really like the love story in this manga.
It became really interesting when Yui their baby daughter came to their life.
I was touch on how they rely on each other strength when they are in crisis.

Could someone pick this up again!!!! Please translate the remaining volumes!!!!
I really want to know the ending...
This manga is a really a gem!!!!

It was originally a 3. After some serious consideration on the originality, I upped it. If this had been done in any other way, it would've been ridiculous. Somehow the author turned a surreal scenerio and manifested into something that just tackles one's suspension of belief without breaking it. Saying half of what goes on would make you look like a fool. Nothing makes sense out of context.

Characters: 3.2

Yuuji- A male that takes on the sterotypical role of a female. In addition to that, in the beginning he has little to no backbone. But don't let that fool you. At times he can amaze people. While not entirely calculating or devious, he can be crafty-especially when pushed into a corner. Also, he has a gigantic mushy heart. The bad thing about this character is that he seems to suffer through psycological trauma after another to the point where one can only wish he'll put a cork in it or man up. Yet considering his initial personality and all the crap that happens to him (becoming a hormonal female, body troubles, and everyone's out to get you) it's little surprise he ends up that way.

Minato- An immature character that somehow remains cute throughout the story. Just like Yuuji he changes.

The other characters seem to be underdeveloped in that they have nothing aside from their goals or attachment to other characters. However, they all have a distinct trait that sets them apart.

Art: 3.8

The art wasn't my cup of tea but as it evolved I warmed up to it.

Entertainment: 5

Look at some other comments and you'll see why.

As for the lack of empathy, the "dinosaur people" aren't human. They have an animalistic nature. With some notable exceptions what they do is to perserve their race and what would benefit them as a whole. Although they give an impression as an amoral bunch, they have feelings and can develop loyalty. Take note that they wouldn't understand something they've never had. Love is a foreign concept though they prove themselves capable.

The only thing that really bugs me is that Yuuji is a love magnet. To a species with limited females I suppose that's alright, but it becomes too much.

The dinosaur-people kill other people without any thought...Yuuji's probably seen around 40 people get killed brutally/ripped apart right in front of his eyes but he just ignores it or doesnt care because he falls in love with the person who killed those people. Seriously, like right after a bunch of people get ripped apart right in front of him he HUGS the dude that did it...because he loves him... What kind of psychopath does that?

i don't know. Yuuji is too much of a wuss to like and this series is really inhumane and I can't understand why this series is rated an 8...its not funny, the author displays an extreme lack of empathy, and the art isn't that good either. Don't read this.

Honestly, I didn't know whether to give this a try or not. (And I still haven't managed to convince RL friends it's worth it.) I mean, shape-shifting dinosaurs? mpreg? hermaphrodite? is this really BL? But I'm glad I gave it a shot. The art improves and the story continues - and it wasn't too bad to start with. The plot is what really captivated me, and it really does show a range of emotions. The characters have their faults, and the author has made it clear that the 'dinosoids' don't live according to human expectations, they have their own rules, culture and practices.

Despite how crazy the manga sounds, it's actually really touching, and the love between Yuuji and Minato was really heart warming. If you have the time you should give it a shot.

I have to say this is one of my favourite mangas. I read the synopsis first and though 'uhoh i bet this is rubbish' but i tried it anyway and got hooked in under 2 chapters xD Now, when you do start reading this the art might be a bit off putting, it starts out ok but not brilliant, BUT it gets much better as the chapters progress and towards the third arc of the series the art is very well done, so dont let that deter you! As for the characters, they are interesting, complex and have some fun quirks. The story is quite intricate with a smattering of drama, action, mystery, romance and scientific politics - it makes for a very interesting read. And, dont be put off by the gender-bender genre - its not cliche'd in this story, nor is it an unnecessary excuse for smut etc. it has a real purpose within the story and isn't used as a point of humour.

I also love Yuuji and his constant meekness xD its sort of cute. But i feel sorry for him too, i've lost count of the number of times he's been raped and nearly raped.

this is what i have been looking for . it's about my dream comes true . Thanks to all scanlations, mangaka and many more that finally i can read this kind of manga.
maybe you say i'm just an perverted person. i do like the tag about male pregnancy. i have only found 2 complete manga in it. Sex Pistol and Animal X itself. however, i found other one, Sweet Pool is never translated in united language until now. i hope that it will also as soon as possible be translated.

Well, this is not your regular BL that's for sure. I'm sure as you read the synopsis you have "WTF" going in your head, and your reaction is rightfully so because it is that WTF. It has blood and murder for starters, throw in a couple of dinosaurs biting each other head off, yakuza, corporate biochemical conspiracy, rape (not graphic though), a pregnant hero, and BAM you got Animal X.

If you're looking for something different, this is definitely it. You should expect how messed up it is when you see Dinosaur and male pregnancy categories in the same series.

i've just seen vol 5 chapt 19 on the net. great! it is on hold for how many years already since Doki-Doki closed.
This series is something like vintage piece of story--drawing style still improving, great plot with deep meaning and love tangle. just what every fan will like, Hope it will be continued.

in the end of the book Yuuji got another twins! they are so adorable! and Minato was forced to sleep with somebody elses while Yuuji is being Raped (again!) by a mad dinosourid again. i love the ending. really cool.

I love this manga and can't wait for it to update. It has a lot of depth. Yuuji might seem annoying to some, but he grows while he is with Minato and Minato grows while he is with Yuuji. They are not the same throughout the manga. I look on Minato and I say to myself, wow, if he was my man ahahaha. I like the more mature versions, but I am glad I was able to see it come about. One of the best things about this world created for us, is the difference in the cultures of the blood and humans added to the fact that humans are potential food to the Blood. It is interesting that prey and predator become a loving unit against the groups who want them, and a world not ready for them. Their relationship has a layer of the forbidden because a couple like them should not be able to exist, let alone survive. I like the fact that no one seems to get them (except maybe the northern blood leader). I feel as though I am with them as Yuuji goes through trials and they struggle to find a place where they can call home. Despite their constant brush with danger and being on the run, I also love the sharp contrast between Yuuji's previous life where everything was chosen for him, and his present one where he plays with the cards he is dealt. In all the caos, Yuuji freely chose Minato and found happiness, and Minato does not take him for granted.

The only thing I don't like about this manga is Gender Bender.
That's sooooo boring for the story ends like that, the main character turned into a real woman, what's the meaning of Yaoi in its genre?
Moreover, his love is unstable or more precise, ambiguous. I really don't believe he only loves his husband.
