I really enjoy reading this doujinshi more than the main story of the manga itself!!! This one felt so real, compared to the others unrequited love seen in most BL stories.
I remember that the first couple of the original story didn't do it for me, it was too typical for my taste (shy uke vs loud seme), so the spin-off was quite a good surprise. I like how Deguchi and Onoda were portrayed. I was mad at both characters, and then I came to like them both, because they were so true

Onoda was annoying in the beginning for not giving a proper answer to Deguchi, it's wether he wanted or not to be in this relationship, because as he was already attracted to a man before, it's not like he was hesitating about his sexuality. I was also furious when he dared to ask Deguchi about how he was handling his sexual desires, when he didn't even answer to the latter's confession. And, this is where I find it to be more believable than others stories of the genre, because Deguchi honestly admitted that he was having casual intercourse to satisfy his urges. I hated him for being so frank, but especially because I thought he wasn't staying true to his sentiments towards Onoda, but how wrong I was!!! Yes, they weren't even together at that moment, so technically it wasn't cheating at all. After rereading it, I realize that on the contrary, it felt more real, because who's capable of staying faithful to someone who you don't even know if that person is gonna reciprocates your affection?! And who knows how long it is gonna take, so should you wait in vain until then?!
Overall, a nice read for a nice change, and who would have thought that

Deguchi was an uke, even Onoda thought that the latter was seme, that part was really funny I must say
It is clear to me that this couple was a big breath in the BL land, and when it is that good, it's always sad that it has to end. It is thanks to this story that I wanted to read more titles of the mangaka, and so far I haven't been disappointed, I like the slice of life touch in her stories while still remaining entertaining to read.
Seriously. This is so well done, I can't even express the depth of my love for it. I honestly think Onoda x Deguchi are a better pair than Shima x Togawa. Generally, with bl mangas, love is portrayed with a simple "i love you", flowers, and other random crap, but here...wow...just wow... Yoneda has taken an overused trope and has reinvented it. It's amazing how she has portrayed love as the complex, painful thing it really is. There's no angst and flowers here, just two men who want to be together.
Really this has everything from the humor (I completely cracked up at Onoda's cardboard reaction) to the heartrending scenes. I also really like how Deguchi wasn't the weakling ukes are generally portrayed to be. I really really really want more stories of this pair T_T
that was so cute.. icant stand it..i mean, it isnt just cute..it gives you a warm feeling too...like it could happen to anyone..i dont know why but it cheers you up~ my favourite escene was the piggyback thing..sweet~
I had to sign up to comment, it's that good. The chemistry is just right, the characters are mature, what they say, what they do, body language and all. What seals the deal for me is that they are totally like a couple I know, all I can tell is Onoda is a Sagittarius and Deguchi is a Leo.
Another interesting oneshot by Yoneda Kou. Her art, style and story-telling never fail to amaze and enchant me. I hadn't expected to see a sequel to the Onoda-Deguchi story. But I'm glad she hasn't given up on them. i'm actually curious as to how things will turn out for them.
As is her norm, there are a few surprises along the way to stray you a bit from the seemingly predictable ending. Her characters are never that easy to read and always manage to surprise you with a trait that makes them even more endearing.
The plot seemed to develop towards a logical course but the way she portrays the steps leading to the grand finale, the in-depth and serious way in which the characters share their feelings and the natural routine of life that seems so ordinary but at the same time the perfect occasion to develop their bond further, all these merge together to provide an angsty, touching story that leaves me content to reading a happy ending.
What can I say? It's just a pleasure to read her work.
