An enjoyable series though not a deep one.

Ai hime is the story about a 17 year old girl who starts cohabiting with her non blood related uncle who is only 7 years her senior. However they met before they knew each other earlier and had a very big romantic moment which ended with a kiss. Now these love birds must live together.

This series is neither original nor unique but that in itself doesn't make it bad. I have read the author's other works and they pretty much play the same way as this did. 2 people fall in love, start dating, have sex, the end without any love rivals. I've read 4 of her works and she essentially makes these romance series which is exactly what people are usually asking for. A manga where the dating happens early on, they have sex and their aren't any love rivals. All of them have played this way the only difference being here the MMC is a bit more of an asshole. More shoujo asshole personality. A bit of Gary Sue and it kinda brought the series down tbh.

The series does get relatively better in terms of the male character's personality. It occurs in the last volume so the series ends on a good note.

I mean this series is incredibly straight forward. Sure their are massive problems like how the hell the uncle had never met his niece. Why the parents are letting the uncle take care of their teenage daughter just so they can go around the world. And a bunch of other random ass shit. But this does have all the good stuff. Ending is great. For romance fans i feel like this is pretty much all the fanservice. Kiss scenes specifically are just fantastic. However in terms of good writing its missing some parts here and their.

TLDR: Risk free(relatively) fluffy romance manga. 6/10

Personally, I loved it.
Well, the plot IS rather dull in its course, but being a stickler for shoujo manga, forbidden relationships and age gaps, I enjoyed it immensely.
So I guess it's just not for everyone. If you're looking for sophisticated drama, then this is probably not for you. It was a really sweet romance manga but barely any obstacles... actually, I could say there weren't any obstacles at all. I actually prefer it when it's just sweet and non-drama, so that went really well with me, but I know many will probably call it boring.
[I also love Mitsuki Kako-sensei's art style, it's messy in a beautiful kind of way. smile]

This manga made me read all of mitsuki-sensei's works. I fell in love with the art style and cute plot. Don't worry, there's no incest in this and it's not super dramatic either. I'm gonna re-read it someday so I might be back, fam. >3<

First off, this is a shoujo manga, so for those who are after a completely realistic and generic love story, look elsewhere. This amazing little gem is not only cute, but also has a main couple with fantastic chemistry, which is hard to come-by these days. The manga features plenty of eye-candy, especially the main bishie himself. Mitsuki-Sensei out did herself once again with her beautiful art.

It is also nice to see that despite having a hunky counterpart she is not cruely bullied or manipulated by jealous side characters. (I honestly hate that in a manga.) also to squash some readers confusion on the matter, there is NO incest in this. They are not related by any means other than him being taken in my her fathers family.
ALSO, the ending is SUPER, SUPER CUUUUUTE! <3 A definite gem to check out. 10/10

It was a sweet read, but the storyline was pretty dull. It made the whole thing look too easy. When in society that really would not be proper and easily looked at as okay. Art work was frog like.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
a girl is waking home and randomly kisses someone?? So weird. Then he ends up being her caretaker cause her parents aren't ever around. First why wasn't this happening to begin with and second, great parenting. Then they start secretly dating. The whole manga revolves around their house and even though there are friend that make things "difficult". Not really. They end up doing it together. they are suppost to be uncle and niece but they seem to off the bat not really care even if he was blood related. The fact he's in his 20s and her 16-17? Was overlooked easily as well as her losing her flower to him. And to top it off he goes "I want to date her" and the dad just goes "sure, but I'm pissed about it" with a smile?! Really dull.

this manga is probably one of the worst manga i have ever read,,it is not just cliche it is nonsensical!!! i didnt get it when a girl saw a man under sakura trees and suddenly he kisses her and then she likes him like crazy!!!and also the man likes her all this in one chapter!! i double-checked if there were a prequel but i was wrong,,,the art was also not very good,so dont be deceived by the cover,,sorry, but this manga was no good for me and just wasted my time as there was no plot in the first place!!!

I really did love this. It's from one of my favorite mangakas. She's not on the top of the list I don't think, but I really like her stories and this one was no different. smile

It was some romantic...I'm a hopeless romantic biggrin with a bit of steaminess thrown in oh yeah! ha

Decent artwork, pretty-faced characters with shoujo-typical unrealistic personalities, a plot centered on love rivals, one after another. In fact, the plot is just a cliche-d shoujo story mixed in with the "problem" of having an age-gap and legally uncle-niece relationship (I say "problem" because this never did seem to turn out to be a problem for them, which bothered me immensely). I made it through the first 12 chapters fine somehow and was hoping for something juicy in the last one when her parents finally find out their relationship. No such luck. After a ridiculously dramatic drawing of the girl's face with her eyes apparently playing a huge factor,
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
the father cowered down in the power of them and consented.
Whoop-dee-doo. Well, this isn't exactly what happened, but if you're someone who worships cliche-d, completely unrealistic stories with perfect characters and little plot (except for the failed forbidden romance), this will be your new bible.
As a side note, I am dumbfounded by the number of people who have given this anything greater than or equal to an eight. I supposed people enjoy manga because it helps them escape from reality, but this shoujo takes the fantasy way too far. Don't be fooled by the high rating.

Top 20 mangas list. Loved this one. Have read 4 times and will continue to read it when I need a pick-me-up. Love the plot, the characters, the romance, the "drama", and that ending was beautiful! A very, very well-written and drawn manga. I expect no less from Mitsuki Kako. She's brilliant and I love all of her works
