Description
Just before entering the university, Yanagiba Masahiko's father died in a car accident. His mother died when he was four, which makes him now really an orphan. But even before the death of his father, he didn't have a family life, as his father was always busy or abroad.
When his mother's younger brother and his wife decide to invite him to live with their family, his life takes a turn. But it is not going to be the normal family life he is imagining for himself. What is the "terrible" secret that lead his parents to break the bonds with his aunt and uncle? What could be the true nature of his cousin, Shion? And last but not least, will this "terrible" secret eventually get Yanagiba, too?

I'm quite disappointed with the whole series. I've read the 14 vols in French version and had to skip the last volume. The only good part is that the series deals with the issues of gender bender quite well. However, the romance part is quite dissapointing. Also the main character is quite immature and the romance between the two main characters doesn't develop at all in the whole series. If you're looking for romance, don't bother about it.

Great series by Haiyato on December 23rd, 2009, 4:23pm

Overall, this book has everything from being blackmailed to cross dress, to dealing with a Yakuza boss that is chasing the main character, to the main character trying to figure his cousin out. I personally have enjoyed this series so far. It is very funny at times and it can be very moving at times since it deals with a sensitive subject through out the story. In all honesty if you reservations on GBLT type backdrops for the story, you may not enjoy. If you read with a open mind living all biases behind, it is an amazing and fun story.

Wew, yet another great series from Hojo sensei (i dunno but his name keep reminding me of a bird pokemon, hoho or something, lol). I started this series up after picking up 2 other marvelous works City Hunter and Angel Heart of Hojo sensei. To my surprise, this series was entirely different to the others, But it still got me hooked, and now i'm really in thirst for new chapters. \ Arr how come his series are all "uncompletedly" scanslated? *sob*

I caught myself rofling many times while reading the scanlated chapters !! It is quite enjoyable!
As far as the mangaka's "fashion sense" is concerned, well if you took your time to check the publication date, you'd see it's the late 90's.. For those who remember, that's how they were dressing themselves that time around.. |

I'm crying inside everytime I see any clothing. If only Hojo-sensei pays more attention to the fashion aspect and can he please not have girls wear heeled sandals that make them look like grannies all the time?

What makes a person a man? a woman? What creates and sustains a family? Not that this manga answers these questions but makes you think about what answers there possibly are. Humor is good too.

Convoluted by Sosseres on September 15th, 2007, 5:23am

This series just adds things on instead of ending it. It feels unnatural, but is a great joy since it continues the characters story.

lame story by aminakie on August 30th, 2007, 11:21pm

I dont care so much about the case of his uncle/aunt. it's their prob and nothing to do begin with .i dont really hate something like transgender ( it's their nature ).. But i really hate the fact , the protagonist was sometimes dressed like a girl ( it showed that his will was so weak ) . It's disgusting to me ! i keep reading it because the art is so good and a bit curious about the mysterious girl.

Many months ago, I read this manga, grew disgusted with it and thus, dismissed it as "trash" and gave it a low rating. But I decided to try reading it again with an open mind. It seems there's more depth to this title than it appears. And the protagonist was really childish in the beginning, though he's developed over time.
Despite some of its' misconceptions and stereotypes about gay people and transgenders this story is worth reading. Though, some might point out that those misconceptions were presented from the various characters' perspectives since this story concerns Japanese society in the early 90s and just because, well, one grew up with transvestites, doesn't mean the person isn't free from prejudism against GLBTs or against themselves.

A nice surprise overall. Plenty of comedy with solid dramatic backdrop. Although the theme of this manga is rather... controversial. Expect a love-or-hate relationship with this title.
