Regarding the main story; the art is beautiful and the plot is good. I recommend reading it. I really loved how the plot develops and it's so pleasing to the eye.
The other stories are good, but I just love Ninohime's story better :3

I've read all her other works that I could get ahold of. She has a rather unique perspective within the shoujo manga genre, often taking social-norms and behaviour and examining the motivation behind them (in a light-hearted, accessible way). Based on my knowledge of her other work (contemporary/highschool-settings), the main story in this volume was pretty different with its historical setting and all. But I think it still has some of the same themes of social expectations and character-transformation. The main characters are also quite endearing. I really enjoyed it.

The third story (and the 2nd, though I read that one long ago) is a bit more typical of her work... not that that's a bad thing at all! If this collection came before her Men's School series, I can see how she started heading in that direction (with what I see as a more deliberate focus on teen social hierarchy, etc). Her sense of humour is a lot of fun too biggrin
