For Older Readers

I don't think teenagers are going to get anything out of this one-shot, but older readers will enjoy the subtle dynamics and realism in portraying a mother-in-law/daughter-in-law relationship. I think it was a very good story, full of all the usual negative aspects of that sort of relationship, but also putting a positive spin on the entire thing. Really, there is so much to dislike about in-laws... but the negatives are on both sides - and there's also something there to like. I think this one-shot portrays that pretty well.

What are you guys saying? I think the story quite hits. I smiled when the mother in-law told Namiko that the photo she likes best is the one that depicts them like war buddies. I think the conclusion is not that far than satisfying, and most of the scenes are typical of Takahashi. It isn't within the great works of her, but as usual as the author often ridicules our daily life, this short comes with a thoughtful view on human relationship.

Cute!

This is not a typical kind of manga. It's about a woman bonding with her mother-in-law. I thought it was a cute, funny little story. If you're married yourself, or possibly (in my case) if your parents got remarried when you were old enough to watch and understand the interactions between them and the new in-laws, you'll probably identify at least a little with this story.

If you've never dealt with in-laws, this might just not be your cup a' tea. And if you're looking for a typical story with typical art, look elsewhere.

M'eh. Boring.

Kind of boring, and definitely not funny. I didn't crack a smile once. Not really a topic of personal interest. A daughter-in-law and mother-in-law connect over a holiday.
