Warm and gentle, funny and humorous by alexandrite2026 on February 3rd, 2010, 8:04am

This is a gently mysterious manga with interesting characters being thrown into a back into the Taisho era. The main character Mitsuya from the future and Jin have a gentle love hate realtionship. Mitsuya wants to 'save Jin' as his grandfather Yoshimitsu wished on his deathbed. There are subtle shonen-ai aspects to this manga but even if this is not your thing still read it. The Taisho period background is brilliant and dynamic and its interesting to see Mitsuya reaction to to the total lack of basic amenities like computer games music and films. The art in this is simple but touching. The characters are likeable, warm, gentle and humorous and you are left wondering what will happen to them all and in your heart wishing them the best. Outside the main characters there is a rich array of supporting actors. This authors manages always to make a manga that touches your heart. Be warned however the opening chapters contain Mitsuya's mum who is fragile, very dramatic and a little psychotic. Don't let her put you off. Keep reading and you will find it worth every moment smile

finally finished by 9redrain on December 10th, 2009, 6:25pm

i once thought it was plain, with a very boring start
and the fact i'm not really fond of shounen-ai so much, though i always try to find one after another, maybe to ensure me that this genre is also valuable one to read
but i continued on reading because i felt kinda run out of good shoujo mangas to read (and i already bought the first 2 volumes, it could be a waste if i didn't read it to the end)

and in the end
it's the only manga that could make cry
(if not one in a few, if i ever cried before it must had been a long time ago)

the story and characters are well-developed in the next volumes
i really respect the strong bond of friendship that grow between two main characters and somewhat unrequited love (from jin toward mitsu)
and i could feel a very beautiful world consist of beautiful-hearted people evolve around the main character

i don't know if i could ever read the last volume again, it's really touch my heart

you have to be kidding me by tolly on November 15th, 2009, 3:04pm

This manga is so good and some people at manga fox gave away the ending without a single warning. I'm really shocked, I had just finished reading chap 12, and it had got me so excited...now, I don't really feel like reading it anymore...I could have liked the ending but now....

Ok, I read the last release and I guess it doesn't really matter if I know how it ends....because it's really good xD

Warning: Slight Spoilers by celinae on July 2nd, 2008, 9:47pm

It's rather dramatic, with one event happening after another, but despite that slight rush of drama, it's still very interesting. The drawing is lovely (Mitsuya is so pretty! xD), much like rindtron said--clean and simple. The characters are still slightly mysterious, despite the four chapters released, but that only makes me more anxious to learn about them and their quirks. And, goodness! The humor! XDD It's not exactly jam-packed with it, but the relationship between Jin and Mitsuya is total win, with enough homosexual puns to make a fangirl sigh. XD And giggle, and then feel teary. As much as I like shoujo, I have to say that in this case the relationship between Jin and Mitsuya really makes me hope that it develops a little further, but since this was published in Hakuensha, it probably isn't. *cry*

The beginning is a little shaky, what with the narrator's mother and grandfather, and his violin playing (which hopefully will be developed more later on..). But it gets better once he goes back in time, and the manga-ka makes his situation very interesting. What makes this manga only more intriguing are the many questions still left unanswered--what was Mitsu like? What happened to Mitsu after Mitsuya went back in time and took his place? How and when will Mitsuya go back to his time? What will happen to Mitsuya as he learns more about the time period he was transported back to?

I recommend this series to people who like light comedy-drama series, with an interesting plot and pleasing art, and who don't mind shounen-ai. Of course, you might like this manga even if you don't care much for it--it *is* pretty good! Though I really hope that it'll get updated soon.. sad (

:) by rindtron on May 26th, 2007, 4:59pm

It's interesting with Mitsuya going back in time and everything and the characters don't have wishywashy personalities. And the art is nice, clean and simple-ish.

Though it seems to have some shounen-ai ish moments...?

Edit: Yeah - definite suggestions up until where I've read. I like it. It's very cute. (And makes me want to laugh at times because of the reactions made)
