Kyouko Mogami lived solely for her childhood friend Shoutaro "Shou" Fuwa. She follows Shou to Tokyo so that he may realize his dream of becoming a famous singer. When his dream is realized, Kyouko overhears the truth behind his decision to bringing her with him: he was using her as a maid.

Shocked and enraged, Kyouko swears to take revenge by outdoing him in show business. With a new look and a new attitude, she joins LME, the agency where Ren Tsuruga (Shou's rival and the #1 actor of LME) works, in the hopes of achieving her goal of destroying Shou's pride.

Along the way, she discovers her true self, makes new friends (and enemies), and finds herself at the heart of some interesting situations that will change her life, and the lives of all others involved, forever.

This manga has a great and unique story and so far well developed characters. The art is very good and the expressions are well brough out. Really, it's not your typical shoujo where it's predictable; it actually has depth and it takes things slow so that actual growth can happen!

I personally recommend this manga to any shoujo lover out there who is looking for something new and refreshing!

When I read it, I was so surprised since the story isn't something that I used to find if I'm reading shoujo. What captivated me the most is definitely the main character, Kyouko. How she transfers into the "new" Kyouko, the way she views and handles things are so enjoyable. So far the plot goes great, and I hope it will end in an impressive and memorable way.

I love both the story n the art. It's the best manga u'll ever read. This shouji is different from other shouji cuz the main character kyoko is not some girl who wants to fall in love and she ain't a girl who would forgive others if u hurt her n that's what makes this manga so good and the comedy sandwiched in between is just pure entertainment. When I saw the review first, I thought it was gonna be some lame story about a girl who's trying to get revenge on a guy who dumped her, but then when I saw the rating I thought may be not. I read the first chapter n it wasn't that interesting at first. But yeah after reading volume 1 it gets more and more interesting n the drawing seems to get better n better. The next thing I know is I've already read through ch107 .....Man skip beat is killing me, somebody update ch108 plssss. Anyway this manga is a must must must read manga!! I totally recommended it!

God, it's so good to see the bastards get what's coming to them, for a change! In many shoujo stories, the heroine's completely (and unreasonably) smitten with a guy that treats her like dirt. I was immensely relieved -- and highly entertained -- to find a spitfire heroine like Kyoko, who gets her heart broken but decides to trample on her heart-breaker's ambitions in return.

Skip Beat doesn't have amazing art, but what it does have is an interesting, involving story with a great heroine and wonderful side-characters. Absolutely everything about the plot is ace. I usually find shoujo series very hard to get into -- I don't get addicted to them the way I do to good shounen or seinen series. But Skip Beat definitely taught me that it's possible for me to be totally addicted to a shoujo manga. I wait for more updates like a dog in hea -- er, heart! (Heart? That doesn't make sense, but we'll ignore it for now.)

I love how atypical the romantic relationships are, here. The main character isn't being chased by beautiful guys all the time, and she doesn't immediately fall head over heels for the lead bishounen, either. Everything progresses naturally and at its own pace. Too many mangakas are too impatient or too immature to let their characters develop like this. Either that, or they don't have the creative stamina to really give their plots time to hatch... Let me emphasize that this isn't the case with Nakamura-sensei. The story unwraps itself like a present, with each climactic or comedic event delivered at the right time.

Really good stuff. Don't miss out on it!
