Description
Aya and her twin brother Aki thought they were going to a celebration of their sixteenth birthday at their grandfather's home, but the funeral-like atmosphere tips them off that something's not right. Their "birthday present" turns out to be a mummified hand--the power of which forces an awakening of unkown powers within Aya, and painful wounds all over Aki's body! Grandfather Mikage announces that Aki will be heir to the Mikage fortune, and Aya must die! But Aya has allies in the athletic cook and martial artist Yûhi, and the attractive, mysterious Touya. But can even two handsome and resourceful guys save Aya when it's her own power that's out of control?

In 1998 Ayashi no Ceres won the Shogakukan Manga Award for shoujo.

Ayashi no Ceres Gaiden included in 6th volume of Fushigi Yuugi: Genbu Kaiden.

Not your average Shoujo

This manga has it all: blood, violence, fantasy, and of course, romance. The story was interesting, the characters were lovable, and although the ending was a little rushed for my tastes, I feel that it was an overall good read. Good for people who like shoujo but want a break from all of the cliches.

With this series, Watase Yuu have surpassed herself. After recently having finished Fushigi Yuugi (and cursed it), I started reading Ayashi no Ceres without any expetations at all. I was only expecting just another boring nd unrealistic love story-manga and got blood, organisation, angst and death pushed into my face.
This is a series you got to read.

I got about half way through this, and then it just got draggy. There didn't seem to be any real progress in the plot (how to deal with the Mikage) after a while. The drama and tragic elements were to contrived, definitely not tear-jerkers for me. I didn't like the guy she was going to end up with (once it got boring, I looked up spoilers). Aya got real annoying and didn't seem to have much depth. I know that's kind of a trademark of Watase's heroines, but I actually liked FY and Miaka, so I thought I'd give this a try. And it's really violent and bloody.

The art, however, is very nice.

Very Good

I loved this manga. It has a good balance of romance and sorrow with a good amount of action in it to keep cynics like me still enjoying every volume with well timed comic releif to prevent things getting too angst. While the love is exagerrated, as it is in all good love stories, I still found myself hooked by the plot line, which adapts so much you can't get tired of it. The plot is deep and there are a good number of characters to ensure every finds something of interest without things becoming too cluttered or confusing. A draw back is the weakness of the main character, she often cries which irritated me but suited her role as a victim. Other than that a very good manga even if, like me, romance isn't your genre of choice normally.

I read this series and loved it.I have to say it is one of my favorites. It made me cry so much.I also liked how the love triangle was turning every few seconds.I was surprised to see so much killing in this book.Sure I've read other books by her it's just a little different.I also liked the humor she added in.It really is a Horror Comedy Romance made in Heaven!

I personally loved this story, it had value that I had not found for a long time. Through out most the manga I was really shocked and relieved. I had lost interest in a couple of sections but struggled to read on. In the end it left me in tears, and joy. When I look back at this manga I will always probably remember not to take life for granted.

I don't like this manga at all. It's very boring but i guess it is because I am getting bored of the shojo cliches. Anyway, this manga is very fast paced. No real developments between the characters. It was like.. really really fast.

I had seen the anime first so because of that i was not much surprised with how things would turn out. In fact i thought this to be a great read and it was a pretty well made anime because it followed the manga very closely.....That being said though i really wanted, not for the ending to be different because i thought it fit well with the manga, but for something more at the end that would let us know exactly what happened after her leading man disappeared.

I sometimes found Ayashi no Ceres hard to bear, but when Watase-sama spun all the aspects together, with just a hint of comedic relief by Q-san, it was a very enjoyable manga. Beware violence and sexual themes... *blushes scarlet*
