I also was like ":/? this is REAL LIFE!?"...come on in real life people have a little SENSE....

I saw the drama and I did was like 'sh*t even the mexicans/americans can make a really good RAPE SCENE' (f*ck they only put the girl screamin' and stuff not so good the way she was, but then again...).

I saw a post in another forum and I read this "he acts in that way 'cuz he have a problem" well...yeah he really does have a problem but -.- ugh...

if you like it good. if not read cat street hahaha ok.

Well, I DO like drama, and reading a shoujo that's not too cheesy is nice, but this one is just unbearable. Seriously, I've read until volume 3 and I just need to stop before I get depressed.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
'Til now the female character got raped and harassed, tried to commit suicide, got pregnant, had a miscarriage, got dumped... At that point she's back with her boyfriend but treated like trash, plus that guy turned into some kind of cheap junky... All of this in what, 6 months?

Not only is it depressing, it's also completely unrealistic (THIS is based on a true story??) And it's going on for 7 volumes, and not completed yet?? Have mercy!

3 points for the nice art.

This series is very fast at the beginning and although slow down bit later on but still way faster than the average "love manga." It has good feeling and story in the first 2 and 1/2 volumes but expect some random and almost a bit nonsense twists after the first 2 volumes.

So...I'm reading this because of all the good things I've heard about it..."Oh it's so sad." "Oh, the story is so good!" "Oh, it's based on a true story..." Okay, factoring all the reviews I've heard and read...not at all what I expected. THhe art work for the manga is pretty good, a kind of style I like. But seriously now people, I have to agree with Beauceron "...but for goodness' sake, just a lick of sense between them would have saved them from a lot of trouble. This story made me all weepy in the beginning, but I just finished reading the third volume, and I could only groan watching them two srewing up time and again." I'm sorry to say this, but if these were two real people then they have done the most idiotic things that could screw up their lives. It hurts watching themselves make a disaster of their already bad situation. They are idiots. That's all there is to it. I...I just...I have no more words for this story...read at your own discretion....

ugh. it is really unrealistic how the story flows in Koizora--it's choppy and somewhat degrading.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
it is SO jacked up how immature Mika is when it comes to dealing with babies...if you are pregnant and get kicked in the stomach DUH, stuffs gonna happen. oh god. jeez. and Hiro acts like everything will be fine or he just doesn't care half of the time. *edit: I just finished the third volume--seriously wtf? Hiro is pretty much an ass in my eyes, no excuses.. I don't get where this story is going and I don't get why it's gotten so many high ratings.
I am not enjoying this manga but I'm reading it anyway just to see how much the characters will screw up. I only gave it a six because I'm feeling nice.

Jeez, such a pair of melodramatic kids... I like the fact that this shoujo is more realistic than the usual rosecoloured mushy prototype, but for goodness' sake, just a lick of sense between them would have saved them from a lot of trouble. This story made me all weepy in the beginning, but I just finished reading the third volume, and I could only groan watching them two srewing up time and again. Sigh, then again, I'll probably continue reading >.>

I've not seen the movie or read the novel, but I've heard a lot of stuff about Koizora. And they were all good stuff. Anyways I saw that there are scanlations available so I decided to try.

At the beginning, I was like "Alright so far so good" since I do like my drama once in awhile. But omg by the latest volume (which is the third one as of writing), so much drama has happened. I mean is it even possible for all this crap to happen to a single girl!? I know manga is just fiction, but my heart cant take so much serious and depressing stuff happening to Mika. And it seems to me like she's all "Alright, it will be ok." and she moves on as if everything's back to normal, just when something happens again!! By the last volume I wonder what will happen?

Now I'm even more curious to watch the movie cause if it's a shorter version then that might be more tolerable for me.

I completely agree with lys in thinking, what kind of life do Japanese teens have confused Although I like the manga, it's more frightening to know that it's inspired by a real story.....the first two volumes are ok but some important and serious events come and go too fast. I really pity the girl, I think you can feel her loneliss from the very beginning, because her boyfriend has absolutely no clue of what happens around him, showing how immature he is. She's fated to experience a lot of pain and cruelty alone. I do think she's too naive and victimized too often, but the guy is the worst, especially because of something I really don't get
Spoiler (highlight to view)
it seems like to overemphazise the drama in the manga the author makes hiro have another gf, but wasn't his intention not to make mika suffer because of his situation, so why finding another chick, to make her cry instead because she's not important anyway? Or it was probably just to satisfy "certain needs"...at least in the drama you feel like respecting the guy, here he's just a horrible person

The manga is a little worth because there are more things told compared to the movie, but you can't avoid feeling quite bad reading it.

Hmm. The art isn't bad and the story is written pretty well, but it's not really the sort of story I enjoy. Looking at this work objectively, though—as a "true story," (whether or not it really is aside) it makes me worry about Japan's young people, what with their lifestyles and attitudes and the total lack of positive mature role models. Mika especially bothers me with all of her insecurities and self-blaming and the fact that there's no one really to support her and help her see that the various troubles aren't her "fault" at all. The conflict-resolutions usually come down to "Hiro loves me, so all is well" but Hiro himself is just another 16 year old kid.

I do think it's good that this work brings up difficult, "real-life" problems and tries to deal with them in a realistically positive way, but I still think there are some negative attitudes concerning the situations that aren't really addressed. I hope that makes sense.
