Description
Cane Lele was born into the fashion industry. Her mother, Ye Fei Yi, was Taiwan's top model, and her father was also a model, until a tragic airplane crash left Lele without parents. Therefore, it is no surprise that Lele hates the industry, thinking it superficial and unnecessary.

Raised by her maternal grandmother, Lele reaches seventeen before she is sucked in by her mother's sister, Ye Fei Hong, a fashion model agent (and former model), convinces the reluctant Lele to model. Lele had been adverse to the whole idea, until she sees a photo shoot of popular American model Angus Lanson, and she begins to see modeling as an art form.

When Aunt Fei Hong's magazine editor invites Angus Lanson to a meeting of all the top fashion ambassadors, Lele is invited to meet him and is very curious. She does not know that Angus' twin elder brother, Eros Lanson, is secretly accompanying his brother. This obviously leads to confusion and is the start of a charming story of Lele's goals: fashion in NYC, becoming a top model, and love?

Wow. I just read 6 volumes of this manhua, and I have to say that it´s REALLY good!
The characters have development as the story progresses, like for example, Lele becomes stronger and more determined (because of something that will happen to her grandmother, which I can´t tell here), and I like the fact that the story revolves around fate, and sometimes there are kinda unexpected situations!
The art is amazing! Oh, and besides Taiwan, the story is also set in Japan, and later New York (!), because of Lele´s career, it´s very creative isn´t it! And you get to see this world of fashion, and plus the romance is also not very rushed, and as you read the story, well, when I finished reading the 6th volume, it made me realize that all this time they Eros and Lele were meant to be with each other but they still haven´t realized that one is the other´s strength. Well, Lele "unconsciously" relys on him a lot! But she also moved him with her words...
I really am in love with this manhua, and the bishies really remind me of Takumi from Nana! But after some time you get used and they kinda have their own personalities so they´re not that similar, maybe only the face.

The way psycho characters pop out and do any kind of insane actions to other people without consequences makes me think this manhua is sci-fi. The idea is good but after a while it becomes worst than a mexican telenovela.

The first time I read this, it was when it first came out. Now there's 11 volumes! I wish I didn't catch up so fast. I really like the story line. Lele developed into a great model and her personality matured (even if she's still silly around Eros, Angus and her friends! I'm excited for the future chapters!

This is pretty different from Nicky Lee's previous works. I love how her art has evolved, and I like that there's a lot more character development in this manga. I actually like how romance takes a backseat, it's quite believable given Eros' character and past. It also elevates the manga to be more than a simple love story.

However, the story falters in the later chapters, and recent developments feel really contrived as the tone of the story shifts back and forth from tragic and disturbing to light and fluffy, even within the same chapter.

Will write more at a later date smile

as i have expected, most comments would do the comparing thing to other manga, not just manga but famous ones too. certainly, i would love to(compare) but having this manhua giving me a 'similar' feel to a manga i have REALLY enjoyed is something that makes it great. people can never help but compare but i'd say it's one very good manhua. *thumbs up*

I interpreted it another way ^_^

She was not enamored to the man in the poster in a "girl-man" way, but for discovering that modeling might not only be an empty superficial thing. Let's say she was utterly fascinated.

At first we all believe that male model is her main drive to become a model too, but after one scene with Eros on the bench I think he just awoke some kind of yearning in her. She hates the fashion world because of what happened to her parents, but at the same time she feels empty inside, not knowing what to do with her life. Actually she always wanted to do what her mother loved I guess...

But I must agree, she can be a bit annoying at times <_<

Yeah yeah, it's good. It's superb. It's not perfect. eh. It was better in the beginning. The reason why I think it's not perfect is because
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The ending! The ending is so unrealistic. Everyone just magically ended up feeling happy. Their happiness is justified but each one of them being happy is unrealistic. For example Anji, Young Qiu (best friend), Leo and Yang all found someone.
But I guess this manga was made with the intention of a fairytale ending.
I read this manga twice btw and it was great both times but the second time always allows me to find faults in the manga. Looking through it again, you know, I kind of begin to count how many ridiculous things happen to further the plot.
The problems are solved too shoujo-y and theres no room for mysteriousness.
Also, the time skips are too easy, there's no grime.

On a personal note, I feel kind of disappointed that Angus didn't end up with Yang. When I read The One the first time, it was during monthly releases and I waited so long that I completely forgot who Yang and Amber were, so I went with the flow on how Amber was there to help Angus the whole time and that's how they ended up together. However reading back on it again, I feel like Angus should have been more conflicted on who he liked after regaining his memories. There were hints of him liking Yang. Ending up with Amber is a simple and easy fix to a happy ending. Too easy! Oh, falling in love with the one who cared for and comforted you? How conventional. Not that Yang or Ulleseeys didn't do that.

Btw, if you thought the jokes were funny, they are even better if you understand Mandarin haha. Lou shang haha hah .. hah

When I first read it, I thought it was by Yazawa Ai, because the art was kind of similar, but after checking and continuing reading it, i found the art was different in its own way. Also at first it reminded me of skip beat, but the plot is much more different. Overall, I really liked it! It has a lot of aspects that are similar to other mangas I've read, but Nicky presents it all in a unique way~~which I really like~~I would say though although the plot was good; sometimes it was also a little confusing; often its skipped from one point to another and it takes me awhile to adjust.(so it doesn't flow as nicely~) But on the bright side this is the first manga shojo manga I've read that also has gay characters( a bit of yaoi) so I like that too haha. Now I'm just a bit sad that I've finished reading it as I really want to know what happens next~~
