Addicting/really better than people say

Maybe I'm one of those girls that secretly likes an aggressive guy, but I found the plot really well developed and hot/romantically addicting. Though the male lead acts like an asshole, it's clearly a front he puts up because he's afraid to tell her his feelings (he's really putty in her hands). The plot dynamic is that the male lead really wants the girl to be his girlfriend/treat her like the princess, but is afraid she'll leave so keep finding excuses to abuse her/make her stay with him. The girl kind of likes being picked on a little and is unsure of her feeling in return, and keeps trying to run away at first before realizing that he's not the asshole he pretends to be.

I read this due to the pretty artwork and its popularity.
After reading it, i seriously don't understand why its so popular. Why?!
The female is dumb and the main male is abusive and controlling..what SADIST leads!
The only things i liked about this manga Shinogu because he was sexy and the artwork.

I thought I would hate this manga, all the reviews are pretty bad. But yeah, the main girl is a wishy washy girl who can't seem to think for herself and ends up with a guy who kind of sexually harasses her in the beginning. But really, what do people expect? Some people are like that, it's realistic in a way. Not ALL girls are like that, not even very many are, but there are a few that have personalities like this. No one is perfect, people are jerks and they are selfish and they make HUGE mistakes. I feel like that is a part of this manga. Plus, you can't just date a guy because he is nice. Maybe you shouldn't date jerks either, but I think the other reviewers are definitely overdoing the character hate.

Honestly, this was one of the most degrading manga I've ever read. It's absolutely disgusting! How could you ever fall in love with someone who pushed you down a flight of stairs...AS A CHILD! The reason why he pushed her was stupid too. I don't care if the whole thing was unintentional. And he's so abrasive and abusive, it's so awful to think that she ends up with him, merely hoping that he will eventually change his ways. I got so pissed off that I actually couldn't read it until the very end.

It's like telling girls it's okay to be with a boy who tells you that you have to give him all of your attention, that you can't be with others you care about like your friends or family. This manga is disgusting and I absolutely hated it. I wouldn't even give it a 1/10. Don't read it, please. And if you do like it... well, to each their own I guess.

Insult to any woman

I couldn't stand this manga and couldn't finish it. I wanted to find out why it was so popular and cannot even begin to fathom why any woman would even begin to enjoy reading this. It is a serious insult to any independent and thinking woman out there who has any amount of respect for herself. I know I shouldn't expect much from a feministic standpoint when I read mangas, but this was beyond horrific. The heroine was disgustingly pathetic and the man she falls for is even worse, I guess they sort of deserve each other in a sick sense of poetic justice but still, this sickened me. It really bothers me that people actually read this and enjoy it, I mean come on women! Where's your sense of pride, dignity, and self-respect? Making abuse/rape seem acceptable is grotesque and abhorrent. I cannot express my hatred for this manga enough.

I realize that this is a piece of fiction, but the normalization of submissive women and the general affirmation of kyriocentric thought is extremely disheartening. What some people don't seem to realize is that even while you think you are escaping into a piece of fiction, you are being molded and indoctrinated into that society's expectations.

complete waste of time. There is no logic in story. No character development, stupid, nonsense plot....
the main guy is an asshole (one of the types that have potential to beat his wife). And the main girl is just not standing up herself in anything. I was really disturbed while reading it. Don't read it if you don't want to be sorry for reading it.

it is a sluttier version of hana yori dango,i couldn't finish this manga it was soo bad...The main character can't make descions for her self. The guy ryoki is awful and as far as i can tell is only interested in her for her body, and because she is easy to boss around. There is no actual chemistry between them i don't know why they say they are in love. the brother is a wimp, some will say that he is sweet like a devoted puppy in how much he loves her, but he just bothered me in how much of a cloud of selfishness and depression he was.
the plot was soo predictable there were absolutly no suprises

and this for those of you who care, i wish i would have known before i started reading otherwise i wouldn't have read it.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
im not absolutly positive becasue i didn't finish, but this is where i stopped reading.... Im 99% sure that the main character sleeps (and looses her virginity) with her adopted brother. who is not the guy she ends up with. for me i can't read a story where the main girl sleeps with more then one guy. because it is my firm belief that you should only do that kind of thing with your soul mate. i think the worst part was she didn't even love him that way she just did it to ease her pain becasue she was jelouse. which in my book wuld make her a slut :(

Definitely! In fact I went out and bought a copy right after reading this the first time.
And the more I re-read it, the better I think it gets - go figure.
I want my kids to read it too - when they're a little older of course.

It's like "Gossip Girl" but even more questionable. That's right, I just compared this manga to a guilty pleasure TV show. I mean it's called "Hot Gimmick" and this series is pretty chock full of them...And it works. I enjoyed this much more than I should have and I can't even call it "good" for sure. Worth reading if you are comfortable with never admitting afterwards in public that you read it.
