Some Information Obtained: The story involves human mutations called "Diclonius", who grow horns on their heads and possess telekinetic powers, in the form of invisible "arms" called vectors.
The tendency for violence among Diclonii varies among characters. Certain scientists contain them in a Facility in cells, where they are subject to inhumane experiments to test their abilities or where they await execution for being too dangerous.
An infectious virus is also associated with the mutation. This virus is spread through non-lethal contact with the vectors of a diclonius.
The main non-mutant character in the story is Kouta, who ends up becoming increasingly involved with these dicloniuses, as they seek refuge from the scientists.
The main diclonius character is Lucy/Nyuu, a killer whose alter ego is a hapless and very cute child whose vocabulary and intelligence are quite limited.
After a large amount of choice occurrences, the lives of these two characters become inexplicably intertwined.

Such a great manga. Makes you rofl, lugubrious, infuriated, paralyzed, passionate and absolutely obsessed...
Haven't seen the anime yet... if it comes even halfway to where the manga is... it has to be awesome.
Edit: Saw the anime, its def more than halfway to the manga, hence pretty awesome. Subtle changes they made to the story made it invoke much less emotion than the manga.

This is why I hate Christianity. People saying "Eww, that person is naked, that's wrong!" Idiots... The natural state is naked, animals are naked around us, yet christians pay no mind to the fact. I apologize if there is a christian sect that i don't know about that doesn't make nudity taboo. Anyway, I'd give this a 10/10, because the plot. I don't really care for the Ecchi part, what's the point? Just go find some H stuff...
I think it was a great manga, but it's just the violence, too much, ne?
just being a fan of art and the standard of today quality i really hope that it get a makeover or can even start a new story..well beside that the plot is delicious couldn't stop ... the thing i was piss the most is pedophile ..-.-"""
The violence level is excellent. I'm not the biggest fan of sex and the like, so it lowered the rating a bit, but this is still a wonderful manga. Great fights, great dictator personalities, and you can really feel the delightfully evil personalities of the bad guys through the pages. Really an excellent manga.

A very interesting story, but way too cruel...
Plot/Story:- It's about a girl who isn't a normal human and is in fact the 1st major step in the evolution process. She escapes from a research facility and ends up living with some boy and girl.
Artwork:- The manga looks really basic that even I could draw the characters better, because it tries to make the girls look super cute. Although it's pretty disturbing when these cute girls are ripping limbs off each other or off other people .
Final Thoughts:- The manga seems to tell the story better than the anime and it actually finishes the story however thanks to the slow a$$ scanlation group I've only read 9 out of the 12 Volumes. One thing I can say is that the cruel stuff that happens to the girls makes me sick.
why is it taking so long?
why is it taking so long for it to be scanlated? this is one of my greatest favs, but it gets a new chapter every 4 months! why??!?!?!!?!? please let the chapters come!
If you ever watched this show you know how it ends, but sadly enough they didn't keep it true to the manga and left may holes in it. This series fills the gaps that the anime created and it also continues on after the anime ends to show what happens after Marico.

Elfen Lied manga thoughts
I've really been enjoying this manga since I started reading it a few months ago. I've read up till ch75 (which was released shortly after this post). I must agree with some of the others that the artwork isn't very good, at least early on. If you look at the artwork in the first chapter and then compare it to the artwork in the 70th chapter you will notice a HUGE difference because the artwork improves gradually as the manga goes on. The main draw of this series for me has always been the story, which I think is very well written and intriguing.
Both are amazing.
In comparison to the anime, I would much prefer to treat it as a totally seperate verison - similar to what was done with the FMA series. Although ending of the anime itself was much like Evangelion where you are left with a cliffhanger that just messes with your head. Although I'd like to think the anime is more centered around digging deeper into the human psyche and what we would do under deseperation and the value of love rather than the result of the human race (the manga).
