ppl r really judging it ... i hate it when ppl compare one manga to another cuz no matter how similar they r the mangaka will always bring something different in the way they tell it ... i really like this manga ALOT and i personaly hope she doesn't hook up with Q-ta he's cute but i don't like the idea of likeing some1 for one reason then relising u actually do like them and arn't useing them like a toy any more ... im going for his brother !!!
I read this at first because it has some "showbiz" flavor in it but then, it becomes one of my top 5 manga. Not similar to skip beat at all because the heroines are really different. DO I mention two hot guys in this manga?
I did NOT enjoy Hot Gimmick. But I love this series?? ...so far anyway... -_-
I also love Q-ta... lot's! and I hope that Yura will end up choosing him. So he'd better not pull an Asuza on me. Because I really liked Asuza, until he revealed his true self... =| For once, can the girl to NOT choose the seemingly-bad-but-actually-kind-on-the-inside guy (Haruka in this case) and if she ends up with the manager... gah... I'd cry.
I thought the plot was similar too when I read the summary of this manga. But I was so wrong, and I came to like this one better than Skip Beat for a number of reasons. The main reason being is that it doesn't drag on like Skip Beat does. The romance is a lot better too, because on Skip Beat, everyone seems to be confuse of their feelings. But then again, I only read up to 80, so I don't know what happens later on in the story.
I really don't get why some people call this a Skip Beat rip-off. Sure, both the protagonists in the two mangas are labelled "plain" and "boring" initially and they enter showbiz for 'revenge'. But Yura does this to step out of her parents' shadow and assert her individuality, while the heroine from Skip Beat takes up the challenge from her boyfriend after getting slighted by him. And yeah, Skip Beat is more of a comedy whereas Honey Hunt takes a more serious and emotional tone. I like that Yura is gradually developing a more confident persona to adapt to the world of showbiz instead of making an instantaneous 360 degree switch, it makes her more human! The love triangle thing is predictable, but oh well, this is shoujo manga after all
its definitely not a ripoff of skip beat...skip beat is much more comedic whereas this one is more dramatic..and the plot and character types are WAY diff. actually, honey hunt is really original (and im REALLY picky with my shojo). i like the main character too...i like characters who grow up and develop in the series, and she isnt whiny like a lot of shojo female leads which I HATE. i didnt like Hot Gimmick that much but I LOVE Honey Hunt!
ALSO why is everyone comparing this to skip beat?? honestly, there are SO MANY celebrity or showbiz shojo out there. I LOVE LOVE LOVE skip beat, but its not like skip beat is the 1st to start the showbiz shojo trend
I've read Skip Beat. And I like it more. The girl actually has a brain in that one.. This manga is way too cliche. Love triangles set up in the first 2 chapters. And the idiot heroine. The mangaka's taking every show biz cliche and throwing it in. Unless the story gets better, I have to say I don't like this series.
It's not really a rip off skip beat. who thinks so didn't pay attention at this plot. I don't think she is an idiot just because she wants to beat her mom. I mean she has real motives to do that and I don't think her mom was mean to her so she would want to become and actress...and if so...i have read too many mangas and i'm pretty sure that what her mom did was to mean. Yura will not get over it just because "i'm sorry, i wanted you too be an actress, just like me"...i mean, that woman never really paid attention to her. Anyway, I have decided to stop reading it for a bit. like someone else said this manga has too many cliches and i will wait.maybe in the future it will get better. But you want to read it. Please do it...it's not that bad but i'm little tired of those cliches
very interesting and yes it is similar to skip beat but then then in this manga the lead female character is trying to beat her mom. I don't really think it's a rip off! I enjoy reading the manga and can't wait for more chapters to come out. I REALLY HOPE SHE'LL END UP WITH haruka !!! i mean i like his twin brother also but i'm rooting for Haruka! But i have a feeling she might end up with ash. boohoo.
